I buy vinyl but don't DJ in clubs... i'm guessing thats what this thread is about right?

or do people really actually buy vinyl when they don't even have turntables?

I don't DJ right now but eventually I'm gonna have to do something with my vinyl collection. Can't just have it sitting there. :)

ye i like that part of having the collection, quality tune and artwork and all

im nt against dj culture tho, cos i do get some nice mixing down everytime i play them but i just dont play out anywer.

more of a hobby and for fun then anything serious.

I cant even mix, but I just buy the odd tune I really like so I have a hard copy for when my mp3 gets bust up and drops in a puddle.

My bro has decks. I only use one though to play one vinyl.

I have never tried mixing tbh...I would end up getting violent and probably hurt myself.

Used to buy vinyl just to support the scene and hav a tangible form of the music I love. After a little while though I just started mixin tunes in me head and then got some super budget decks. Mixin is a class way to keep old tunes fresh and hear things in a different light. I may be wrong here but I reckon if you can dance in time then you can mix, all bout the bouncey bouncey. I love the fact that dubstep is one of a few types of dance music keepin vinyl alive 8)
I want my beats to sound like arrhythmia.

lol fair enuff.

mixing is really easy man, i mean the basics of it anyways, just beat matching.

u shud give it a go, u may even like it. the first few times i used to mess about on a mates decks i was a bit taken back cos i couldnt really mix for shit

but wen i got my own decks and just got a hang of doing basic things like timing, levels of treble n bass, etc...

depending on ur mixer it can become quite standard to just do beat matching, and over time u can try gettin onto the more fancy stuff...

...all i kno is getting a SICK mix in makes me feel so gd, the feeling is unmatched, thats what i really pay for wen i get my dubs lol.

also mixing wen ur lean>>>>>>>>>>

I'm waaaaaaaaaaaaay rusty on mixing, haven't played out in a "proper" club for some ridiculous number of years - though I frequently do eclectic sets in pubs and bars - but nothing will stop me collecting vinyl and adding to the 3 1/2 tons that fill every corner of the house and the mother-in-law's loft

still i think its good though that there is a GENERAL listening ONLY vinyl buying public cos in a day and age where technology is most prevalent it keeps the use of vinyl alive...

i mean back in the day vinyl was the only medium so its sales would have been at peaks, but after cd's and internet downloads its good to see that there is support which keeps vinyl sales at resonable levels.

i got a few mates that buy loadsa vinyl and don't dj... I totally respect them for it, especially now what with the availability of most tracks as MP3's and them also being cheaper...

Their collection is in mint condition too, i find it really hard to look after vinyl when your either playing out or even going round a mates for a mix...

Personally i still love buying vinyl and CD's and would if i didn't Dj. I just love physically having the music in my hands, sorta old school i spose...

I work in education and had to explain to a kid the other day what vinyl was :o .... i reckon music is so much more disposable nowadays due to mp3's, don't get me wrong there are benifits but kids just seem to download tracks to their phones to listen to, then when they get a batch of new mp3's the old ones just get deleted.. I find this really strange as the majority just don't seem to collect music nowadays...
