So we're close to that time of the year. The moderating team felt that it would be best to let the community decide whether or not a Dubstepforum Awards is something worth doing again. We've done it for 3 years now, this year being the 4th. With the polling system that we're confined to using on this site's software; it can never be a 100% accurate affair. We've done our best to try and make the process, the best representation of the community.
The awards do highlight hard work, talent and popularity, but in the process also creates a competitive atmosphere and generally kicks up a lot of aggro vibes to go with it. Many people felt that the whole notion of an awards is flawed from the start, as music can't really be a competition. Its too subjective.
The reason why we started the awards in the first place was to recognize the people that put so much time into the sound without any recognition for their efforts. It was also at a time when the sound was still very underground. This year, its a completely different thing all together. We're at a tipping point.
It's really important to hear your opinions, whether they be harsh, positive or otherwise. All that we ask is that when being critical, please be specific and explain your position a bit.
"The awards were really shit, and I didn't get one."....isn't criticism....it's a comment. Please expand on things, because otherwise, you're not contributing to debate, just making a spectacle.
cheers,
The Moderating Team
