Stoke on Trent

Post by matthew_ » Thu Jul 17, 2008 9:31 am

I'm new to dubstep and just wondering if anyone knew of any regular nights that are happening in and around in stoke on trent? Had a look through the events thing, but cant find anything in particular.

Didnt know if the events forum was the right place to post this, feel free to move.

Yeah it's gash... a couple of great venues though, it just a shame all the kids want screamo/hardcore bands on...

since the void closed there aint really a venue for a proper rave. for a city with 2 unis the nightlife is fucking shameful.

If you are into glassing people and waking up in a pool of your own vomit it must be great though.

Stoke is lacking in good underground music, its either indie bands or bassline which I cant stand personally.

Snatch is good though, a drum and bass night held every so often around Stoke, they get some big names in.

Thank fuck Im moving away, as Im yet to find someone who is actually "in" to dubstep ! :D

I've played the shed loads of times with my band, not a bad venue, can be a bit rough though, think the guy who owns it is a tool.

Leicester is like 1.5hrs away though, I'd have to drive :( No drinky

Stoke needs some Dubstep ASAP, it's what this music was designed for. I've lived there for a few years and there's not much happening apart from the odd one-off club night. You're best bet is the Keele / Staffs uni crowd and get on the house party scene. Try and start something off from there when you know there's enough people and boom! Dubstep in Stoke.

Have you been to stoke? Damn, you'd know what I was talking about if you had. Bare townies and Ben Sherman shirt wearing pub monsters straight taking over.

Stoke is the frontline...

mate it's been that way since day dot. the general ignorance level of the average stoke lad is off the chart. practicaly every person with any nouce is out of there as soon as they're able: whatever way you look at it stoke is doomed to be the arse end of nowhere for the very foreseeable future.
