Benga at Big Chill

Post by duck » Wed Aug 06, 2008 11:30 am

Thought he was nearly as good as Flying Lotus tbh...

heard that was his brother MC-ing and he's usually an accountant?
He should quite the day job!
(except i bet it pays better)

"I wanna see your bass face, everyone's got a bass face"....

the big fire and fireworks added to it loads too...

ah wondered who was mcing, noone seemed to know.
wasnt really feeling the set, didnt like that system at all, but when wheres my money dropped and that thing burnt down was something special!

out to the girl sat on the floor huffing a balloon and crying at the same time.
out to the bulldogged face bouncer wo-man on the stage shouting at everyone who just ignored/laughed at her.

ha ha she was hilarious. I couldn't fathom if she was trying to get people off the chairs completely or just off the top of the chairs, and most of the people dancing on the chairs were totally mashed up, don't reckon they could even see her....

Was his brother (the MC) rocking the topless look? Or was that a cunning 6pack t-shirt he had on? Couldn't tell from the back. On a par with Roots Manuva who (according to the programme) reckoned he'd MC in his y-fronts and wanted the crowd to turn up in the buff.

Only caught about 1/2 of it (went to watch the inferno over the river for a minute) but from what I heard Benga made the most of the 2 hour slot (a rarity in dubstep these days, sadly) and played a pretty varied set - wobbly waggle one minute, dark funky ominous the next. Got to applaud that. Sound was horrible, but you can't expect Plastic People in a field I guess...

Either way, the monkey on a stick that followed us round the festival seemed to like it!

Shouts to Markle (sorry for losing your spot in the toilet queue fella) and bigup all gin crew - that's the way to play the Big Chill - all about the glow-in-the-dark drinks :)
