"The Times" - 2562

Post by whighzeguy » Wed Aug 06, 2008 8:04 pm

I absolutely love this tune but have been having a real problem trying to mix it. I'm pretty sure it's Dubstep tempo but maybe I'm lunchin'.
Anyone else have trouble with this tune?

I think you will have to pitch it up about 15% to get it into Dubstep tempo range.

Wicked tune though, well worth doing a slow section with some other slow dub beasts.

Runs at about 120 I think, deep tune.

I remember reading somewhere, possibly in a Martyn interveiw that 120 is the rate of a persons heartbeat when most relaxed or something like that.

"There's also a study saying that around 120 BPM is the perfect beat because you have this pulse of low frequencies 120 times a minute, which is so close to your actual heartbeat that that is the music you would feel more comfortable with"

The 120 Bpm is supposed to emulate the heart rate of mommy when your in the womb. Or some hippy crap like that.

heart rate is varying but 60 - 70 is closer.
ie: half speed of 4x4 house, techno, garage, trance etc.

Opened my set with this couple weeks ago before rolling into some 125bpm techno. Was nice to just reference/touch base with the subs and swing at a slower tempo early on before hitting the dubstep :)
