First finished track... think it's a stinker?

Post by wil blaze » Fri Jul 07, 2006 10:00 pm

Yeah i actually did this track from start to mix in less than a week which is unheard off for me... i was just feeling the vibe so much i had to stick with it.
The track's called "One Down"
Anyway, it's on my myspace (www.myspace.com/wilblazemusic) and i'd well appreciate some feedback from anyone who can be bothered.

By the way be brutal i'm an experienced producer and i can take the criticism... in fact it's probably what i need.

Big up
Peace

How do you mean better drums? Like new sampes/hits or just more layers/a different groove?

Personally i love the really minimalist thing with beats... i hear a lot of tunes where i feel like the drums are too much and they should leave more space... just my opinion

thanks for the feedback bruv.

i too dig it, but agree the drums could use a bit of help. not in programming, in the quality and mix of the samples. right now they sounds very "kick sample.wav" and "snare sample.wav" - mixed way up front and dry. try doubling them, add a little reverb, distortion, something to make them yr own, and to sit in the track. they're not bad, but could really make the track stand out.

cool... i see what you mean about the drums...

ironic since both were actually worked on and sculpted for ages using layers and multiband compression... i was after a clean sound for the track but yeah i see now that the drums are a bit too clinical...

thanks for your feedback
