go on a bankrupting gambling spree across south america...taking on crack whores...gun crime....fundamentalism...and whatever.......you'll come out with a couple of new ideas for the album (probably!).
Failing that drop fruity and use an old 4-track with tape multitracking accompanied with some broken guitar fx. Don't use an instruments either apart from strange ethnic things (picked up on your gambling trip). Make sure the piece is at least 3 days long and doesn't have a proper end.
Good luck!

take a few days off producing, you will soon be itching to get back on your pc. dont force any ideas, let them come naturally.

some good tips for creative block:
1. take some time away from it and don't force it. listen to some other stuff in different genres than you produce for a few days. come back to it fresh.
2. find a production partner. sometimes when you listen to your own stuff for a bit, you get bored or stuck and a fresh perspective can be a big help.
3. try the "speed dating" production method (i love this one). ya know how sometimes you will work for 12 hours on a tune and then come back to it the next day and think "this is utter shite. why did i waste all that time on it?" so don't. give yourself 10 minutes per tune, build the basics of the tune, and as soon as 10 minutes is up, move on to another tune. do the basics, move on. do this for a while, and then stop. no matter how much you want to, DO NOT spend more than 10 minutes on each one, and do not go back to any of them after you have finished.
come back to each one the next day and see which ones really grab you. which ones have potential to be fleshed out, and which ones really don't cut it. now work on the ones that you really like.
i have found this method works well when i am really blocked, and allows me to just let the creativity flow without getting too far in and then judging it while i am working on it.
p.s. i go through the creative blockage on a constant basis. don't force it, whatever you do. i generally tend do go read books for a bit or work on some visual design work and then come back to it. that seems to work a lot better than forcing it and getting irritated...

I think it's better to actually get the structure of your tune down before fucking around with single sounds because that does your head in

make beats rather than tunes, listen to different music, go for a walk, read a book, go back to old tunes and see if you like them and if you can finish them,
that speed dating things crazy, i'd have a kick sound and snare sound after ten minutes, so theyd be pretty useless

yeah. the point is not to dwell, or to be doing constant eqing and all the technical stuff. the point is to just get the IDEAS there and then not put too much time in them right off the bat. it's definitely more of an "i'm stuck" technique than a regular writing technique.
