what did you listen to as a kid?
before you'd even heard of dubstep, what kind of music did you first get into? you know, " a phase of"

My musical evolution goes like this...
1. What my parents listened to(classic Rock, Jazz, Country, pop)
2. Industrial/Rock/Metal/Punk
3. Garage/House/Techno/Progressive/whatever was at the rave
4. Garage/House/Techno
5. Dubstep
6. Dubstep, Garage/house/techno
for a while, I went to strictly dubstep and didn't listen to much else. Now I'm back into the bassy house that is coming out, with sprinklings of garage and more techno influenced dub riddims
my favs now are Martyn, Andy Stott, etc.

mm in 84 when aged 11 i bought pump me up , by grand master melle mell and the furious 5 that started my interest in hip hop through out my teenage years , licensed to ill ,ll cool j im bad and public enemy yo bum rush the show were played heavly throughout the ages of 13-16.. only shame is everything i had apart from the melle mell 12"" was on cassette, damn if only id have got em all on vinyl..
i was brought up with stuff like ry cooder and tom waits, talking heads etc. my dad's kraftwerk records were my first taste of electronic music. i started to buy fairly mainstream dance comps when i was about nine/ten, and then i started listening to fair bit of rock stuff when i got to high school and ska which i still listen to. i dabbled with drum n bass for a bit as well. when i was about 15 i completely submerged into dance music, techno and house. i mostly listen to dubstep now but i still like hawtin, booka shade, dubfire, laurent garnier etcmarty wrote:mostly "handplayed" music. punk-, noise- and postrock, also some industrial metal followed by an extensive phase of reggae and dub. and you?

i grew up on rock/blues/jazz from my dad and soul/reggae from my mum...then from there i moved onto hip hop in a big way...then garage/house/techno...then d'n'b...and then dubstep...and plenty of other stuff inbetween along the way...
i basically listen to anything and everything and have always been that way...i go through phases where i'll listen to alot of hip hop and then alot of dubstep or whatever but there is always something new just round the corner...
