3 laptops. from what i've gathered, benga and skream provide the raw sounds and loops, and artwork sits in the middle and mixes them together accordingly.

There was a tiny little article in Mixmag or something recently, and it talked about them using ableton. I take everything Mixmag says with a grain of salt, but I wouldn't fancy trying to do a live multi-laptop set with many other programs.

don't they all do separate parts of the tune at once? e.g bassline, drums and tune.

I saw 8 people do it a while back. Was a bit confusing and I didnt see the point.

All you need is 2xTechnics and a bag of records imo. Forget all these toys.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

absurd comparison, apples & oranges.

When they played Bristol, they had Pro-Tools boxes as well, but I assumed the performance was being done in Ableton. Forgot to poke my head round and have a look.

its like a "neo-dub" session

I saw mad professor rock like that with 2 adats, a 24 channel board and a delay machine

closer to the roots of dub than most realise

*I just made up the neo-dub word and it's not intended to be a new genre, just a method of mixing raw tracks live

if they're making the music live then it is playing live. I've played live. I've played with a sampler on a stage where i was making a beat live. I've also played with patterns on that same sampler in a club situation. that was not live.

all you need is 2 decks? not when the magnetic man act is probably the most impressive dubstep act i've seen. quality show.
