What kind of needles do you all use?

Post by spire » Tue Sep 09, 2008 2:05 am

And why do you hate em/love em? Ive been usin M447's for a couple years and theres nothin i really dislike about em (built like a rock, no cue burn, stays glued to vinyl), but i think im lookin for a little more fidelity. Still need to be decently skip resistant. So whos used what?

Sure are the best, hands down.
Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

m447
no problem with them.

best sounding and performance needle i had was the ortofon GT but they are discontinued :(

stick with ya 447's, thats what i reckon. whitelabels sound better but they're a mission to keep on the record when you're scratching

Try using Ortofons in a warehouse that has any kind of dust in the air lol They are the best dust collectors going.

Yeah. I have used almost all the popular models on the market. Been using the White Labels for about 4/5 years now. I like them the best.

M447's all the way..

9.5mV output = big bass

0.7mm spherical stylus = no skipping

The thing you have to watch with Ortos is I have had endless problems with the contacts. They constantly need to be reset on the tone arm. Quite frequently as a result you can lose a channel right in the middle of djing. Other than that I like 'em. I might suggest the ones that sit on the old school head shells. We use them at the club and we are happy with them.

Ive got Ortofon Concorde pro S, added them to the finance when i bought my decks all those years ago (it was only about £5 a month extra so why not?), glad i did as they had a really good sound quality. Ive had them 7 years and ive only replaced the stylus' once which seems pretty decent.
