Bass Junkies on FM radio in Louisiana and internet stream

Post by unicorn fukr » Wed Sep 10, 2008 9:52 pm

Hey,

New to the forum but thought I would let you guys know about a radio show I do out of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It broadcasts on 91.1 FM KLSUin South Louisiana and is simultaneously broadcast on internet stream @ klsu.fm.

Bass Junkies is the only dubstep/drum n bass radio show in Louisiana on FM radio and it airs every Saturday from 5-7 pm with no commercial interruption.

The format of the show includes on-air interviews with DJs/producers and then 1 or 2 hour live sets from these DJs. I do voice overs occasionally during the show to remind listeners who they are listening to/legal station IDs/promotion for local and regional events.

We've had more dubstep on the show than drum n bass and it is a hit here. A lot of people call the radio station asking about the music. It's a great tool for spreading dubstep around here.

Notable dubstep DJs who have appeared on Bass Junkies are Claw of Trillbass, Rus from Airtight Imprint, and Black Swan (Louisiana's queen of dubstep).

We have been off the air a couple Saturdays due to technical difficulties/hurricanes :) but are usually there every weekend.

If you are a DJ that would like to play on the radio, hit me up and feel free to add me on myspace: myspace.com/unicornfukr

Clearly this is not an easy thing to do to come to a radio station unless you are close to BR/NOLA/Louisiana in general or coming through the area for a travelling gig. Therefore on some shows we feature pre-recorded mixes (though they must meet FCC regulations). We also do heavy promotion for shows that are in the gulf coast area.

I also DJ on the show myself ocassionally when we have no guest DJs booked. So feel free to send me tracks and/or pre-recorded mixes (FCC safe plz) to play on the show. Also if you do so, be sure to send me some information for promotional purposes (i.e. any events you have going on, info about yourself/your music/upcoming releases/etc.)

Thanks,

Unicorn Fukr... (aka Unicorn Killer when on the air... can't say fuk on the radio :P )
