World Politics / Terror / War

Post by spaceboy » Sun Jul 16, 2006 3:00 pm

I remember putting up a similar post a few months ago, well fuck me, I think its time to put one up again!

So the salient happenings this time round:

US increases rates to 5.25%, spurring on a increase-rate culture in central banks around the world. Zero-interest rate japan, have hiked their's up for the first time. Coupled with high oil prices and rising inflation, is this the correct thing to do? Or will we go into a massive deppression in 2007?

Terror - India got hit - which was inevitable in one sense because of its public love affair with America. Will this cause a massive riot/war on ethnic lines, with the outed BJP govt trying to revive Hindutva sentiment, thereby causing the never-ending Hindu v Muslim love/hate relationship?

Israel flexing their muscles, reiterating who the daddies in the region are - Syria/Iran collaberating in the form of Hizbullah to take the Israeli's out..will this end in a full scale war, culminating in soaring oil prices, higher inflation and thus mayhem? Politically speaking, are the Israeli's in the right to do what they are doing? Is there not 2-sides to a story where one is going unheard here? Will Bush pull his finger out of his ass and actually help out productively instead of talking in his now dull neo-conservative platitudes?

North Korea and missles...

Iran and nukes...

Volatile times...

what do you all think?

I think all normal humans should move 2 mars and
leave all the bad humans behind A.K.A geroge bush
and that. I think the problem in the world is money
so you could ban it on mars BUT............................
The human race would find somefin 2 sell anyway

sat a bar two days ago and people were joking about buying oil stocks and nuking iran -- saying things like "they have been asking for it" i kept my mouth shut.

we are living in a world where people are experimenting with creating as much personal and political desperation, whining about resistance, and then crushing it viciously.

article on "option grants" after 9/11, basically deals where executives get to buy stocks at a low rate for years --

Kind of sick of all this. We wouldn't be having this debate if Israel wasn't the largest reciever of US economc and militry aid. Its just so predictable. Yet avoidable. They got out of Gazza so they could increase the land grabs and incrochments in the Wast Bank.

Small arms kill off far more people than WMD - there should be some sort of agreement to reduce the sale of these weapons and meltdown those that are retrieved from warzones so that they don't fall into the wrong hands.

Unfortunately this is rather anti-market, so probably won't be done as it reduces competiton or something.
Hmm....

well said, i didnt get the impression that the bombings in india were related to the "war or terror", i thought it was to do with internal politics and possibly relations with pakistan.

and pakistan, or rather the pakistani govt, is very much under american influence, partly due to fear possibly, but i think they can offer a lot of intelligence to the US, which in turn gives them large amounts of military aid, and ignores their nuclear program.

isnt it funny how we dont care when israel/india/pakistan get nuclear weapons, but if its iran/n korea... acutally it isnt funny, its fuckin ridiculous!

India is not particularily alligned with America, you don't know what you are talking about, the US is very wary of India because of the governments previous socialist tendencies. The US hates socialism because they like people to be in competition with each ther: divide and rule. Pakistan's governemnt is very pally with the Bush administration, seeing how they are both fundamentalist and rely on a large military complex, Pakistan even sends peacekeeping missions to other Muslim countries such as Somalia, when they were having a civil war. So it is clear that they have a large army and international influence. They are a powerful ally of Washington, despite the presence of anti-American Pashtun militias in the North Western Frontier Province of Pakistan border with Afghanistan, it is therefore very important for the Americans that they are in control of the central Pakistani government. Remember that "terrorists" are useful to gain support for the REAL terrorist states chiefly US, Britain and Israel. Bush can stir up the Muslim militias by bombing Afghanistan if he so wishes, this makes Musharraf scared so that he has to comply with American wishes in case he is overthrown and the Nukes fall into the hands of a Fundamentalist Islamic Governemnt. So there we have it, Bush is more interested with Pakistan than India because he can make them reliant on him whereas India is more internationalist and prefers to operate democratically.

You really shouldn't panic, that is exactly what they want you to do. the neocons that is. They have all sorts of methods to increase industry and profit for themselves, Want a war to boost the economy and use/test a whole load of new arms? Tell the lobbyists that the oil is running out. You can then steal oil from a sovereign state, under the pretense that you are "spreading democracy and preventing an attack on yourself" Even though the country you are looting has less oil than sources in your own backyard ie Venezuela that have stable but anti-American governments, or Mexico or Nigeria which don't, but hey they hedge their bets. THERE IS PLENTY OF OIL :o . And we wouldn't need ANY if the governemnt would invest in new ways of getting energy such as COMPLETELY SAFE Nuclear power (which is possible and easyish to set up) or Solar, or hydroelectric, or vegetable oil powered cars, or water powered cars etc. The fact is we need to do something to stop these rulers of the world pulling the wool over our eyes, the first is changing the way we think about and respond to the news. This "War on terror" is not even about grabbing oil because there is not enough, it is about eliminating the market competition or scaring it into control, like the Saudis.
The energy crisis is bollocks! Fear is the one of most powerful tools on the planet, no fear no control.
