Welcome to the forum. Its a very difficult thing to immediately jump into, because unlike other sounds, there's so much range to discover.

I suggest starting out by downloading a few mixes from places like..
www.barefiles.com

The benefit of sites like that is that the mixes come with tracklistings of the producers, so you can figure out which type of sound you respond to best.

You're on the right track with the allstars series. All of them are really good. If you have itunes, just type in dubstep in the search for the itunes store.

welcome once again,
seckle. :)

you gotta get all the allstars!

its all about mixes too, artist albums are good sometimes, but not a starting point.

get the allstars series and keep and eye out for the new Youngsta/Geeneus CD! "i love dubstep" all styles of dubstep, all eras

Not just dubstep but check out Electronic Explorations aswell ( www.electronicexplorations.org ) I hold Rob Booth in just as high regard as Mary Anne for any new music in the field.

I've listened to them all, but start with:

WEEK 002 - Marlow (Seriously HEAVY stuff with an almost omnipresent rolling bassline throughout)
WEEK 005 - Nick Argon (Really dubby stuff, most of tunes classics now)
WEEK 007 - Ranking Records (High quality production, mostly chilled)
WEEK 016 - Ramadanman
WEEK 024 - TRG (Cop this one. TRG knows his stuff)
WEEK 032 - Pangaea

These are just the mixes, but you should listen to the whole show every week if you can. Mr. Booth gets his hands on a ton of dubplates fresh from the cutter.

Apart from that, as mentioned, go to barefiles.com. It's where I started.

Although aging a bit, you MUST listen to Dubstep Warz from the Mary Anne Hobbs show in Jan 06. It's like the Dubstep 101.

Make sure you go to the 'top downloads' section and pick up:

N-Type - Dubstep Forum Anniversary Mix
Freak Camp Session - Ramadanman 16-Jun-2007
Excision - Darkside Dubstep 2006
Go Magazine - Kode9 - Sonar Mix 2007

Good luck bruva, and enjoy your journey through dubstep. I wish I was discovering it all over again.

Must'nt forget this little gem. If you like your dubstep dubby, it doesn't get any better than this. What Rusko use to sound like before he turned into the King of Wobble. Ridiculously good mix. Don't miss:

Rusko's 'My Dub is Heavy' @ Radioluz (26 Mar 07)
