Ketamine is gong to ruin Dubstep
Ketamine is gong to ruin Dubstep
ok, so i dont post on this forum enough to know if this is going to be a repost (apologies if so)... but i've been around in Dubstep to know that this is a serious issue.
I went to a 'dubstep night' tonight, that was incredibly mediocre.... my mates that used to take the piss out of me for listening to dubstep were really bored by the music until the K man turned up (with a polo ring around his face). Up until this point they wouldnt have been dancing, but as soon as K was in the equation suddenly it made their night go round....
I could no longer have a convo with them, and the dj was incapable of putting tunes together, but somehow this solidarity of confusion made them want to dance... this really disturbs me.
I remember a time when i could say to people "dubstep isnt about drugs, its about the music", but to the masses this has clearly changed
Is Ketamine to blame for this, or is it a case of the massess wanting to get off their nut, and ketamine delivering?
Personally, I want to go to a night where people appreciate the tunes... Its not a night of mediocre production, mixing and promotion.... but it is a room full of like minded people wanting to tickle their pancreas! Has the spirit of dubstep been lost on the masses through ketamine? Or am I a lone soldier that attempts to see through the bass?
Your thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated x

Mate, I got fucking wicked friends and I live in Bristol.... its not about FWD, its about attitudes to the music. The tunes were really mediocre, and it was almost like K gave the tunes a seal of approval. Surely it should be about the Bass... not about tranquillizers?joshuaBLACK wrote:mate... just find some new friends and go to FWD...
Fair enough about the Smack comment (although I still stand by it)sigha wrote:ummmm thats a little over the top surely??bootystep wrote:How did Ketamine become socially acceptable?! In my eyes its on a par with Smack! Who agrees with me on this?
I've seen K sneak its way in for the last few years.... and I really feel strongly about this.... how the fuck did K become socially acceptable?!!

um, first of all... have you ever done ketamine before? if you have not, then this is where the conversation ends.bootystep wrote:Fair enough about the Smack comment (although I still stand by it)sigha wrote:ummmm thats a little over the top surely??bootystep wrote:How did Ketamine become socially acceptable?! second of all, have you done heroin before? if you have not, then this is where the conversation ends.
finally, there are absolutly NO similarities between ketamine and heroin. they do COMPLETELY different things to your brain and body, not to mention the fact that ketamine is not even a fraction as addictive as heroin. i have done both in the past, for long periods of time, so i have experiences to speak of.
also, you are not a "lone soldier" (hahaha) as there are many people who think drugs and music should be separated. and in the words of bill hicks, if you think drugs have not enhanced your life, then go and take your cds and albums and music and BURN THEM. because many of the artists you know and love are fucking WASTED on whatever chemicals.
(note how i didn't use the word ALL in that last bit.)
this post is utterly absurd and if you think a drug is going to ruin a style of music than you music not have a lot of experience with drugs OR music.
sorry mate, this is just way off base in my opinion. don't make this a religious debate either, people will do what they do regardless of your opinion. if you try to start changing people, you're not different than an evangelical.

Theres not many drugs I haven't tried, so in my opinion this post is not about mis-education, its about atmosphere and musical awareness.
I must have missed the memo where the Horse got invited to the party
Bring back the Bass happy vibes and lose the K imho... its not about confusion to make the music sound better
:edit: also, to presume that K is not addictive, you are deluded sir, because in my experience it is a socially, psychologically and physically addictive drug, and I beg you to show me medical research to prove otherwise

just because you have negative feelings towards it doesn't mean everyone else does. and to be honest, you talking crazy like you are makes me want to go out and do rails of K and laugh about it because you clearly are just ranting crazy.bootystep wrote:Theres not many drugs I haven't tried, so in my opinion this post is not about mis-education, its about atmosphere and musical awareness.

whatever you do, don't go off on some PLUR shit because it sucks hard.
K has been a part of the dance music culture since the beginning. I remember going to some of the earlier raves where I live, like 93ish & K was big then. Like all drugs it comes & goes, but unfortunately it's a part of the scene.
I haven't used in years, no rolling, or anything else & I find that I like the music even more.

If you live in Bristol then there's definitely no reason you can't find some better nights. As the music's proliferated there have been an increase in waste nights but there's still more than enough wicked ones. If you're going to nights where the DJ is strung out on K then surely you realise thats not a typical occurrence? Go see Pinch, Peverelist, Appleblim, Headhunter, Joker, RSD, etc. and you definitely won't experience mediocre tunes or DJs battered off their faces.bootystep wrote:Mate, I got fucking wicked friends and I live in Bristol.... its not about FWD, its about attitudes to the music. This is not a standard thing you're talking about and if anybody's seeing it on the regular then you're going to the wrong nights. Sort it out
