Digital or Vinyl

Just had a random thought. Basically do people prefer buying tracks on vinyl or digitally. Also do people who buy vinyl frown upon people who get tracks digitally.

Personally I buy digital due to the simple fact I dont have decks but would buy vinyl if I did.

Thoughts please

I buy vinyl and personally I prefer the sound you get from it and it does kind of annoy me when people use Serato or Final Scratch to play unreleased tunes but fair play to them I'd be doing it too if I could afford it but I'd still buy and play vinyl. I like ordering records and the excitment when your package arrive's I also kinda like rush to get big releases before they're out of stock but it does get annoying when you miss things and have to wait months for the repress so mp3's are good in that sense.

get me. prefer vinyl, but tunes cost so much compared to digital

x3 Yep getting vinyl in the post is very exciting especily when they are really hot tracks such as, deep medi 04/05 deep medi 08 Alicia, under the dancing feet, and many many more. Allthough 1 bad thing about waiting for hot tracks is the thought, what if they go missing in da post. I do miss going to the record shop though, used to get such a buzz from that. I do buy some digital tracks i.e heny g n siklies new bits that come out exclusive to sonic boom a while ago or stuff like flow dan the bug jah war loefah mix that i couldn't get on vinyl. But all in all its vinyl for me, just love the stuff

Viynal does it for me as I have had decks for almost 10 years now it kind of comes natrualy to DJ with and play music.

One day I might look into more digital ways of DJing but I can't really aford to get a decent program and computer to run it all.

Lets face it nothing beats picking up some vinyl or getting it through the post.
Though being a bit poor at the moment if a track is released on mp3 as well as vinyl, increasingly i have been buying digital. Though I have often picked up the vinyl after buying the MP3, as stupid as that probably is.

what a nightmare. the best tunes are on vinyl. period.

True. There's such a high volume of shit on mp3, alot of throw away stuff in my opinion.

i buy both. there are a lot of tunes that only get digi/vinyl release, so to choose only one format means you miss out

I love Vinyl, and will probably always prefer it, but I haven't bought new plates in years. The cost of vinyl gets prohibitive when you have a wife, and bills, and other hobbies. With MP3's I can buy 3x as many tunes for the same amount of money. I got a killer deal on M-Audio's Torq, so that allows me to still rock the decks, but the ability to use digital.

That said, I will buy vinyl when I can, and I will definitely still scoop up the random white label stuff as I happen across it.

If you have ever heard me play CDs the tracks are all usually wav rips from my fresh stacks of purchased vinyl. I only buy digital of stuff I only want 1 track off of or something I missed. Best tunes are on wax!

I buy vinyl and I don't even DJ, I just like the solidity of it, plus I can view it as stockpiling hydrocarbons against some sort of mad max oil crisis apocalypse.

When I'm out though, I'm not bothered what the DJs using. There are just so many more important things that make a DJ set fun or boring that a slight difference in sound quality or whatever really doesn't make a difference.

BOTH but my friend is getting these 1700 pound cd decks which are pretty amazing if you can afford them. Also the laptop seems to be a popular choice also.

No i wouldn't say buying the vinyl after buying the mp3 is stupid in any way shape or form coz i have done the same too. Allthough i do agree about felling a little stupid when doing so. I think it's more of a why didn't i just buy vinyl in the first place, but if the tune is a killer and worth having on vinyl then so be it. I allways end up felling glad i bought the vinyl too in that case. Like i have silkie and heny g new gangsta boogie bits on mp3 as that is the only format they are avalible on. But soon as they hit vinyl i am on it like a fly to shit

Vinyl is such a costly business now days with so many great releases it is so hard to keep up n my pocket allways feels the pinch. I can see and understand why a lot of peps are going digital these days and very soon i can see myself having to do the same

But rather that then not be able to buy or mix any new tunes attall.

this is intresting becoz i waz thinking of settin up a digital lable and having tunes donated by some of my producer friends ( some well known names ) have about 5 relases in a pack and release say 5 packs and useing all the money it earns to set up a free event and waz hoping to get a well know name behind this so any radio station mags forums digital sale sites wana get behind this and think its a gd idea let me know
