So we were really looking forward to Taal Mala but unfortunately he was refused entry at the border. What we do have is another great talent from the UK just added to our amazing lineup.

Bersa Discos feat. Oro11, Disco Shawn, & MC Tidal
(Tormenta Tropical - Buenos Aires/SF)

Bersa Discos is a record label based in Buenos Aires, Argentina and San Francisco, California.
Bersa is brought to you by Oro11 and Disco Shawn, two Bay Area DJs who moved to Buenos Aires (separately) and found themselves swimming in a sea of experimental cumbia mayhem. After hooking up in the Buenos Aires DJ circuit, the boys quickly realized that many of the local cumbia sounds were never being given a proper release. Bersa Discos was launched to change all that. The first Bersa 12" was released in February 2008. Vol.2 dropped in June 2008, followed by the 3rd release in September. Look out for more from these boys from BA to the Bay.

Taal Mala (lighta! sound, SUB-OSC - Vancouver)
Killing sound since '97, Taal Mala is tearing up the dancefloors and doin' it to ya in the earhole with warbling sub frequencies that have been known to merk an internal organ or two. His music encompasses a mashup of dubstep, dancehall, ragga jungle, and techno with throbbing basslines, glitched out ragga vibes, turntablism, and complex riddim changes that will warp your perception of dancefloor music. As a member of the SUB-OSC and Lighta! soundsystems, Taal Mala has buried an excess of tin pan soundboys alongside The Bug, Kode9, Loefah, Venetian Snares, Rusko, Benga, Skream, Hatcha, Youngsta, Martyn...etc. Keep your eyes open for lighta! and SUB-OSC releases in early 2009.

DJ Vanka (Stellar Tracks, Worldwide, Misturda - Belgium/SF )
Originally from Belgium, Vanka has been a local Bay Area DJ and promoter for more than 15 years. As part of the Stellar Trax Sound System, Vanka became known for spinning dub heavy beats at parties such as the now legendary Future Primitive Sound Sessions. Later he began focusing more on Afro-Latin grooves and started promoting his own parties such as "Misturada" and "Worldwide". Besides running these successful SF club nights, Vanka has also played alongside artists such as Sidestepper, Yerba Buena, Seu Jorge, Los Amigos Invisibles, and many others. A master at mixing organic and electronic beats, Vanka always brings the vibe with his infectious and uplifting blend of "global urban roots music".

HEADHUNTER - Bristol, UK

It didn’t take long for BMX-riding “council estate rebel” Antony Williams to make his mark. Written using only a PowerBook in his bedroom, his first release on the Ascension label last year impressed Tempa – the dubstep scene’s biggest label – so much that they called him in for a meeting and signed him exclusively on the spot. Since then the 25-year-old’s sleek, electronic take on the sound has featured on the ‘Tempa Allstars Vol 3’ doublepack and his first solo EP, ‘Futurebound’ – and the London imprint has proven to be the perfect home for his music. He says: “I want to do something no one else has, to an extent. I’ve been into many styles of dance music, like trance, techno, jungle and garage, so I wanted to bring that into dubstep. Tempa are an amazing label with the history and the forward-thinking focus to push the sound in new directions.”

You can watch video from a recent performance here:

As if you needed another reason to come party... ;-)

See you there!!
