Such a life-changing moment. People were honking their horns and dancing in my neighborhood (fort greene brooklyn) late into the night. I've never seen people hugging and screaming and even crying with friends and absolute strangers on the streets before. A fantastic night and today a feeling of real hope and optimism.

Some of the older black folks in my area were very subdued in their reactions. It seemed to be a time of great reflection on all the hard times, and even a bit of disbelief in what was actually happening.

It actually feels good to be American today, and I'm really proud that so many people had the courage to make this happen. It has always been true in this country that if you're black you have to be twice as good to succeed. Obama was better than twice as good and in the end he made it clear for all to see that he was the better choice. Such an impressive person who could not be more worthy of what he has achieved.

over the past week i've grown increasingly confident that this would actually happen, but i could have never predicted my own personal reaction to it. its been a very emotional 24 hours.

i can't get fuckall done today because i keep having moments of wanting to break out into... something... out of sheer excitement and, dare i say it, inspiration. For alot of us in our 20s and 30s, this is the 1st time the concept of being proud to be an American has reared it's head. Lots to reflect on-- and a lot of work to be done!
