Distance
Distance’s unique take on dubstep has led to DJ bookings across the globe as well as numerous releases on prestigious labels including Planet Mu, Hotflush, Boka, Sting, Tectonic, Destructive… to name a few. His debut album is set to drop later this year on Planet Mu.
Distance’s own productions have received airplay from a variety of Radio One DJs including the late, great John Peel, who even clocked Distance in at 19 in his festive top 50.
More recently the likes of Ras Kwame and Mary Anne Hobbs have taken a shine to his rugged, edgy style, and regularly feature Distance’s beats on their shows. For this reason he was one of the elite few invited to represent dubstep on the now legendary Dubstep Warz radio show hosted by The Breezeblock in January, 2006.

Osiris (soon to come: http://www.rollingbeat.com)

Osiris named himself after the ancient Egyptian god of the underworld, not only because of his
Egyptian identity but more for his love of electronic underground music and especially the broken
beats in all sorts of styles and genres. African, Jamaican and Caribbean breaks caught his attention
early in his life and influenced him heavily.
He started to blaze the drums and the basses in 2000 and within a year he was asked to be part of
the Bassment crew, he then successfully raved on for about a year and a bit to grow and be a part of
the DWA crew! More info: www.djswithattitude.com.
Since 2003 he has broadened his horizon further on underground music; he got in touch with Grime
and Dubstep, which he has been pushing in Holland immediately after infection with these filthy
underground sounds. You could hear him and his other crew every tuesdaynight with all these
different underground styles on Streamers Radio for more than one and a half year. A weekly
radioshow which played locally for 60,000+ people and of course through the net worldwide. More
info: www.streamersradio.com.
He now chose to provide the audience more directly with the underground sounds by hosting his
own raves as much as possible. He's just started Dubstep & Grime @ Occii, Amsterdam, a
bimonthly rave on every first saterday of the month, next one will be his birthday edition. He also
works together with OT301 to get things moving. Next to that you can visit his forum on the music
at www.dubstep.nl.
To Osiris music is art and emotion, one of the few ways in which he's able to express himself. His
style is different every time, because emotions and feelings differ every moment, but what we can
say about this geezer is that his sets contain different stories and journeys and not allways with a
happy ending… step up and get ready for his heavy musical rollercoasters!
Jungle/DNB:
Silvahfonk

It all started in 1990, with the Drum'n'Bass of M-Beat and Remarc, Goldie, Prodigy, SL2 and Roni Size. After having visited a couple of parties, Silvahfonk decided, in 1996, to buy secondhand turntables and he started experimenting at home. After some time he got his first booking by Urban Unit at Blaak, Rotterdam (Queens day). In this time he was known as 'Energy' because of his energetic personality. Due to circumstances he moved to the north in 1997.
Silvahfonk (means Silver Funk/Spark) was in that time also interested in Hiphop and he decided to leave the DJ'ing be for the time being. After having joined in the, now still underground, Hip hop-group M.I.C. (Mo Ill Communication) for a while, Silvahfonk was discovered as an MC by members of the Zombi Squad. In 1998 he participated in the 'Grote prijs van Nederland' in the category 'Hip hop/Freestyle' and he became second in the initial rounds.
In 1999, Silvahfonk started spinning again after getting in touch with an other DJ from Groningen. After an unexpected successful performance in Vera, Groningen, he decided to set up a DJ-Team called 'Chain reaction'. Members of this team were Chris Combo and Silvahfonk and together they spinned a combination of Breakz, Darkstep and 2-Step and Drum'n'Bass and Jungle in clubs as Hemkade and The Palace (Groningen).
Not much later DJ Josje (Yorobi) contacted him and since then he's like 'the eternal guest' in her internet radioshow, Intermezzo Music, at www.nauticradio.net He's been asked to come and perform regularly. For that he is very thankful.
After a great performance at the first edition of Subsonik, 5 years ago now, (Subsonik was a monthly Drum'n'Bass party in Simplon, Groningen) he got himself a spot there as resident DJ. Besides that, he was recruited by the Complex Beatz crew, from the well known record label. This resulted in getting to a lot of different spots all across the country.
Since 2004 Silvahfonk is busy as co-producer of still unknown but very talented producers, to be able to spin their own productions at parties. He works close with rinsing newcomer Amplicon.
Also, he has set up a new Drum'n'Bass night called DNB@Kult. With this chilling Drum'n'Bass and Breakz-night in cafe Kult in Groningen he wanted to give new talent the chance to give a showcase of their talent. After 2 years Silvahfonk stopped organizing and focused on school and networking, and of course, spinning the wheels.
Since 2005 Silvahfonk got also involved with a new organization that called "Underground Music" in Apeldoorn (NL) Underground-Music supports the present dance music scene.. Their activities are non-commercial and is mainly to promote dance music and DJ's and live acts. For more information check www.underground-resistance.nl
In 2005 he won 2 awards at the Dutch drum’n’ bass awards as “Best breakthrough DJ” and “Best Dj”. For the further results watch www.dnba.nl . Furthermore he won Mtv's “Pimp my room Ultimate Dj room competition” for being a crazy dude on tv. For more details watch www.pimpmyroom.nl.
After that year he got himself a spot at 2 agency's. www.thenightguide.nl A fresh all-round agency with al kinds of dance dj's and performers around the world. Also Silvahfonk got a spot at www.Bassground.com the number one agency in Holland with only the best drum’n’ bass dj's, photographers, Vj's and Mc's around Holland and abroad.
Besides that, Silvahfonk hosts his own show together with Dj Fre4knc at www.jungletrain.net.
The program is called ROYAL AND RAW. On their show they invite unknown and fresh artists to do there thing, in a weekly showcase from 22:30 till 00:30.on Tuesday night.
Recently they got some special editions, with guest like Codex - (Dnaaudio Serbia) and SERUM (Dread recordings UK). But also dj's from Holland and abroad like DJ Voja - Lenzman - Trap - Noble - Dj Maxey (from Germany)
Definitely worth to check it out every Tuesday at www.jungletrain.net
Silvahfonk has a lot of passion for the sound that is Drum'n'Bass, but maybe his heart can be found mostly in the jungle-sound. He loves the '94 records of producers like Remarc and Congo Natty but also the productions of the present in which this sound can be found more and more.
His style is dark, uplifting, summer-like, jungle-oriented and funky and he tries to bring this to the public in his own energetic and creative way. He also tries to be exclusive by picking 'that other tune'. DJ'ing to him is not a job but more the pure representing of the thing he is completely into. He wants people to get to know a genre with no equal. Or, to quote himself,
"Drum'n'Bass is my life-style, I am a true junglist!". and never stop doing it.
