1 album you are feeling at the mo... (non dubstep)

ok just curious about an album you guys are really likeing right now, i know there have been tons of non-dubstep music threads...but they generally end up having just tons of lists and no comments.

try and keep it to one or 2 albums you are digging at the moment, and feel free to comment on others...

i really am into this album.
very melodic, nice smapling...heavy bass !!
and very dubby at times.
more of a headphone listen at home album, than one for the dancefloor.

ruff dub is fuking ace !!

1st disc is killer.
2nd disc is supposed to be some downtempo stuff, its ok...but not that special.

I'm feeling Helios's "Unomia" and "Eingya" LPs; they're really lush ambient/downtempo, ideal for cleansing your aural palate between booms and crashes.

Really digging the Dead 60's first album - on a 2-tone tip, got that sort of bleak early 80's feel that I remember oh-so-well. Vinyl came with a ltd edition dub versions platter that's really well done too. Not quite the Specials, but pretty good nonetheless.

Speaking of which "More Specials", their second album seems to be a bit of a lost classic. Dammers was moving away from the ska based sound and incorporating various different elements - wierd sci-fi keys, exotica, early drum machine sounds - quite experimental in places, highly under-rated.

Was thinking how odd it was that "Ghost Town" actually reached number 1 - probably one of the darkest chart toppers ever. Even UB40 were pretty dark at the time, if you've never heard "1 in 10" or "Earth dies Screaming" they're worth checking out - some distance from their later output. Seems to me the last time pop really reflected what was going on in the world around it.

i'm listening to mogwai's 'government commissions' - bbc sessions basically. really need to see them live again, it's been too long.

good stuff on the g'n'r - 87-93 is pre-spaghetti incident i notice. probably for the best!

A couple of months ago I was lovin The Subways 'Young for Eternity' album. Pure, undiluted rock 'n' roll. I listened to it every day for about four weeks and I haven't done that with any album for years. Currently, I mostly spinning Frank Perry playing his Tibetan bowls; its for my chill time. (Om.)

ethiopian jazz funk, worth checking if you dig in crates and feel alice coltrane, roy ayers, roland kirk etc. (as featured on the broken flowers soundtrack apparently)
