Asking for 320's or WAVS in myspace.
Well, these last weeks there have been lots of really cool vinyl releases BUT i don't own a turntable, so it's a real mess for me. I've thought more than once about asking the producers on myspace if they could sell me the wav's or mp3, i don't think it should be very difficult to do the payment with paypal and i would avoid having to buy vinyl just to rip it.
Has any of you tried it before? did you receive a positive answer?
Thanks in advance.

if producers want to release digitally they will. and if they release only on vinyl it's for a reason. and besides those reasons most people just don't have the time to deal with something like this.

As far as i know nor Hot flush nor Ramp are doing digital releases of their 12", and those two are delivering some great tunes. I don't usually care about the amount of releases hosted in a digital shop but about how much i like them. i don't mind paying the prize of the vinyl if i'ts a track that i really love BUT vinyl rips don't sound as good as proper Wav files, and having to rip them it's a real hassle.
BTW, i don't like myspace neither, but most of the producers i like have one, and it's a good way to know when they are releasing new stuff and even listening to it (myspace's player can be MUCH better than the average digital shop player)

Pretty sure Paul from Hotflush did an interview back in like 2006 talking about how digital was the way to go, and he was one of the first Dubstep label heads to go in that direction. Also fairly certain that every Hotflush comes out on digital, as well as Scuba. I know I have almost all of them.casioboy wrote:As far as i know nor Hot flush nor Ramp are doing digital releases of their 12", and those two are delivering some great tunes. Latest digital release from Hot Flush is from 2007 in juno. Even though i've found some later releases in boomkat.

For HotFlush/Scuba go straight to Beatport... Ive gotten many of their tunes from there.
There are Zomby releases there too.

I'm guessin the main reason labels might be slow to get their shit on sale digitally is they want to sell as much as poss. vinyl wise before sellin digital.
I remember when most dubstep releases went out of press quite quickly. Now tho there lot more tunes on offer an record stores appear to have loads of stock. Aint easy to make your money back on a small run of records i hear. So seems some labels maybe hold off on digital, in hope they'll get more vinyl sales as result.
i dont normally buy digital, but thought it appeared recently labels were pushin the digital angle more no? More back catalogues updated, quicker digital release dates etc.

Knock yourself out, just use the drop down to browse other labels.
