wot is the best music software and why

Post by le_knigh » Tue Nov 25, 2008 3:17 pm

i hav been producing tunes now for a about a year, all self taught which has kind of been a mission! Started out on a basic fruit loops 7,found the drum sequencer amazingly easy, then wanted some bass so dabbled with that, found a sound which i fort was amazing at the time untill a m8 popped by and said that i needed the software reason,,y,,he sed the quality of the sound was emmence compared to fl studio.kinda found this hard to believe never the less i went on a mission and got reason 3. I could hear the difference right away but again had to learn the 'how to do this and how to do thats' ..mission...but i got there BUT ..along came bass. Oh the joys of bass, i love bass this is why my genre steerd in the direction of dub-step and here i come to my arguement.I love making bass, the trials and tribulations and upheave battles of learning synthesis is something my heartbeats but it seems to me that in reason you only seem to tweak to one super sub-low bass in every sound.i've come to learn about layering had ago with that n finding it quite diffulcult but its coming dont know if anyone could drop some hints on that one?... At present am playing around with layering the drum kits to enhance the sounds but have come to the conclusion that reason is not painting the picture i need.im mean it does everything i need it too but i find it so much easier to create and paste on fl studio. Some of the bass sounds on reason sound much better aswell as the drum kits,i love the speed of fl studio and its lay out, my arguement is can i get it to sound as powerful as reason or any other software out there,i hav jus learned that reason does not take vst pluggins which suck but fl studio does, how can this help me if i decide to buy a bigger package of fl studio? I want the big bass sounds the big bangs of the drums im very serious about my stuff so please any big feed back will be much appriciated. cheers dudes

1. all sequencers pretty much do the same thing (you just need to find what works for you

2. get a good sound card

3. do lots of research

reason, fl studio, cubase, wangbase - use whatever

YOU'RE not painting the picture you need. believe me, your software is STUPID, you have to tell it exactly what to do. any piece of software! its not going to make the beat for you!

keep at it man, keep changing programs and practicing techniques.
remember that EVERY program has eqs, filters, compressors etc etc.
learning the tools inside out is more important than learning the toolbox

Don’t worry about people stealing an idea. If it’s original, you will have to ram it down their throats.

Pretty much this.
