Since his dancefloor-decimating Thursday night appearance at the Step Inn in February, Lotus has broken through with the stunning Los Angeles LP, his second full length and first for seminal UK label Warp Records. Flying Lotus is a rare artist who presents lovingly detailed textures and beatscapes on record, and destroys all expectations in the dance, where his live show incorporates an intense cross-genre exploration of party music underpinned with his own inimitable aesthetic.
Don’t miss this chance to kick off 2009 with one of the most exceptional musical talents of this generation. Flying Lotus will be joined by Resin Dogs deck-technician DJ Katch, Junglettes’ De La Haye and Gidgette, and Dank Morass DJs Walrii, Swob and Danck.

Bio:
The great nephew of Alice Coltrane, Lotus (born Steven Ellison) has music in his blood but has never rested on nepotistic laurels. Drawing influences from the unquantised beat chopping of the late J Dilla, the bass-laden world of dubstep and the mind-expanding experimentation of Alice and John’s jazz, the sound of Flying Lotus is unique, haunting and unruly.
Lotus’ live show has grown in reputation this year with show-stealing performances at Barcelona’s Sonar festival and his own Brainfeeder events in London, Los Angeles and San Francisco. He has also become the remixer of choice in the dubstep scene, started his own Brainfeeder label and continues to contribute forward thinking hip hop beats to MCs like John Robinson.
