Winter beard thread

Post by jonjon » Thu Nov 27, 2008 4:43 pm

Out to all the itchy mandem.

As the winter season draws in, the want of a warm furry face increases.

I ask; Is it worth it?
There was evidence in this room of excessive consumption.

Yes and no. If you can get through the itchy phase, it's okay, and I guess it would help protect against the elements.

That said, you need a face that suits a beard, there's the food that gets stuck in it to consider, and I don't think the ladies are too fond of excessive face fluff either...

You're right on some aspects. mine isn't too long at the mo so no food is getting stuck in there.
One major problem for me is the longer it gets, the less i want to shave. And some times just call for a shave no matter what.

If I could grow more than two hairs at once on my face, I'd attampt a beard.

whenever i try and grow the fuzz there's a bald spot about an inch square under my chin. which goes some way to ruining the effect, hence all-year-round beardlessness and a terrible sense of longing

Solid thread.

I'm rockin one right now, we call it No-Shave November in the US (similar to Movember down under, but a full beard as opposed to just a mustache).

I'm wondering if I'll keep it come December 1st though... it's not tremendously annoying, and my girlfriend seems pretty apathetic on the topic, so we'll see.

Can't do it. I just cant handle that long bullshit on my face. I usually shave once a week.

I normally shave once every 2 weeks, head and face. That way I can turn my head upside down at any given point and no-one really notices.
strip it down, reveal the elements

my favourite part of having a beard is shaving it off and just leaving a moustache for fun.. I look like one of village people

my favourite part of shaving is splashing the aftershave on.
especially if i cut myself accidentally.
the pain is somewhat satisfying. -r-

three things to know:

the itchy phase doesn't last.

trim it. manky beards are not the one.

if you bust a long goatee and move to helsinki when it's -25, this happens:

(tbh that's what i was thinking when i saw 'winter beard thread'. not visible are the big bumbaclaart chunks of actual ice in the middle.)

oh and a bonus fourth thing to know: you'll find your appreciation for idm, drumfunk, etc increases.
