Cheers!!! Submissions All In For Production Forum Mixtape!!!

Post by jolly wailer » Fri Dec 05, 2008 7:05 pm

Anyone interested in gathering DSF members/production forum crew regulars tunes up into a year end mix?

Kinda along the lines of the bunzero DSF mix but based on some kind of submission system - or like a production challenge "everyone try to make such and such a style and the best submissions will go into a mix". Maybe to try to consciously push some music from various people into a particular direction. and it'd have to be new music not just dubs people had laying around.

I wouldn't be able to do the mix myself, I'm not personally equipped to mix in digital, but I trust one of you lot would do a class job - I'ma more idea-oriented person, a thinker not a doer :P

as far as themes go I'ma throw my hat in with either 'vocal tunes' or a funky house angle, drummy bongo business.

suggestions welcome.

I think there's potential to do something nice with a group effort - who's in?

I think a themed mix would be a bit boring but i'd be up for submitting a track for a mix.

Perhaps choose a number of tunes and let people take a crack at making their own mixes? Best mix wins?

This has been suggest before but no-one took it any further.

What might be a better idea is having the best tunes of the month that have been posted on the dubs forum. There are so many quality tunes on there that just get ignored becasue no-one knows the artist or because people do not have the time to listen. Also there is a lot people on there that want feedback but not willing to give feedback on other peoples tunes.

A monthly unsigned mix would give everyone something to aim at when they put a new tune up. Also maybe bring new people to the forum. Maybe have it stickied to the top and people can suggest tunes that feel are the best of the month. There needs to be some way that the whole forum agrees to an extent what the best tunes are instead of just the person doing the mix.

The mix doesnt have to be of the best quality just simply a mix so everyone can hear the quality that is on the forum that probably just gets missed all the while.

Im willing to gather up the tunes every month if needed and maybe even blend them but what would be good is to get a quality dj that posts on here to do it.

If people think this is a good idea i will start gathering tunes for a mix at the end of the month?
