What techno do you mix with dubstep?

Post by string » Fri Dec 19, 2008 9:24 am

I very much enjoy mixing the Blood On My Hands Ricardo Villalobos remix into some sets, but I'm not very into techno/house so the only stuff I come into contact with is through dubstep labels,

So anyone know any stuff in a similar vein?

What do you put in?

TBH, Ricardo's stuff is a bit too tedious for even a techno fan like myself. I'll compile a list though and come back and drop it on ya, so watch this space.

I believe Spamchop is your man. He blends Dubstep/Techno/House/ together as if by magic.

Basic Channel/Chain Reaction stuff (Monolake, T++, Scion), Philus, Plastikman (the techno one), Sleeparchive

Yeah, I don't like Ricardo Villalobos either, his stuff isn't very interesting

I need the techno records first before I can find out what mixes well!

and this seems to be the best way to get a foothold in it all

fair enough mate :)

try scanning through the Hardwax site or the Boomkat techno section - the "what other people also bought" bits should give you a decent idea of whats happening..

Low Blow by Bug & Hawtin, I love to mix that with the Villalobos mix of Blood on your hands they go together for about 10 mins or so if you can be arsed and hit it right.

I like to mix in a bit of electro sometimes too, it's usualy older stuff with a bit of funk and swing to it that seems to go alright with dubstep.

I do far to many mixes with just dubstep at the moment, I blame all the credit thats gone crunchy. I would love to buy more techno, electro, grime, funky, house, hip-hop and give it all a good blend but I can't really aford it.

I've mixed Leftfield - Fat Planet in a few sets and Jeff Mills - The Bells but I don't own any techno really as much as I'd like to
