getting a lot of joy from bits of hardware I've bought recently, these two are my favourites:
SP404
qy70
Both loads of fun for making loops/weird noises to use in tracks, and can play live with them as they're so small.
Heard good things about the kaossilator... anyone got one? any good?
Would appreciate tips on other bits that are available, low budget is key here, but the lofi sound is part of the fun...

and
both amazing - suprisingly lofi still, and limited enough to make you get creative. best part? change out the tubes for a fatter, warmer, fully analogue sound. you can make shit sound thick with the right tubes.

@misk: yeh those2 look good, all I've heard from them sound very quantized though, is everything automatically snapped to the grid or is there room to leave the beats as recorded?
tubes at the output is such a class idea as well I'm sure these sound great through a soundsystem!

yeah they snap to a grid automatically, but the trick is to up the tempo to 300 (thats the fastest it can go, sadly) and you get a much more live feel. it all depends. thats the beauty of hardware - its limited - so you're forced to be creative.
the sampler is essentially a glorified drum machine for me, but i do resample shit in it. it's only got 256 seconds of mono sampling time. first thing i did when i bought it was delete the factory samples.
the MX bass is fucking RUDE.

The 404 is a lot of fun, more pads and more effects than 202...
