Dubstep x Hip Hop

Post by bd1982 » Thu Aug 24, 2006 2:30 pm

I've heard some really good sounding blends with grime and dirty south hip hop (Semtex's Crunk+Grime mix, Diplo, some of Kode9's RinseFm shows I think)...Has anyone experimented with more dubstep with hip hop vocals? I've found that "Request Line" works REALLY good with Three Six Mafia's "Stay Fly" acapella...def. got a good response from it last weekend.

In a perfect world of unbridled creativity and licensing, which dubstep artists would you like to see collobarate with which hip hop artists? I'd like to see:

Digital Mystikz x Wu-Tang (specifically Ghostface or RZA)

Kode9 x Vordul Mega of Cannibal OX

Scuba x Nas

just a few off the top of my head...Let's what everybody thinks!

yeah the Tasty Grits Crime Mob remix Kode9 played a few times is one of my favourites, always in the box.

I been doing some crunk/dubstep&grime mashups, I think this is definetly a winning combination. Always sounds YYPE!
There's a few in this mix:

Hope to hear more

I'm not a big fan of rap but reading this it occurred to me that would be great to hear MF Doom over some dark heavy dubstep, like Vex'd or something.

That would be interesting. Or Chuck D back in the day over some vex'd beats.
Which could actually happen. One of the old producers of Public Enemy - Hank Shocklee is one of the co-sponsors of Dubwar in NYC.

I dun know just a thought..

Uh I dont know. I would like to keep an open mind about it.
It might be "gay" or it might just be amazing. Wouldn't know till it actually happened a few times to determine if it would work or not.

I wouldn't mind hearing a few attempts first then determining if it's "gay" or not.
