More Questions! Physcho acoustics!

Post by alpha3 » Tue Dec 23, 2008 1:18 am

I'm enjoying reading and occasionally commenting on the more esoteric questions. Like why do people produce. Do people find that they never seem to finish much etc etc... One thing that I come across regular is happy accidents but more importantly the sum of parts. And I do on certain trax try to find elements to work like this. It's debatable wether it works or not.

Ive heard it referred to as physcho acoustics but my question in layman terms is how important is it and do people aim for trax that seem to be far more than the sum of their parts???? ie: riffs that seem to be sounding out of nowhere, atmospheres instantly come to life by adding simple elements etc. 8)

Psycho acoustics is more about the processes involved in sound perception. Still it is quite interesting topic. Most of the cognitive processes involved in hearing are still a complete mystery.
