playing out using virtual dj softwear like torq or serato
just a bit confused as to how people do it i just got torq it seems ok a bit unstable but if i turned up to play a set at a night with it id have to unplug the turn tables while i plug my connectiv box in .what ways are there to get around this play an mp3 player while you set up or somin you wou7ldnt want to cut the music mid flow at a rave and stand there like a lemon pluging wires in im confused.
Must be your computer, needles, or cables because Torq has been rock solid for me since I got in September. It took me getting new cables & making sure that my cartridges were making a good connection in the tone arm, but since then I haven't had any latency issues, crashing, or other.
And you would either need to setup before hand, or mix in a record / CD, hook up one side, then do the other after a mix. Shouldn't be too hard to setup playing out.
I'd suggest visiting the Torq forum to sort out the instability issues.....

You can use Torq with the serato box; just have to plug in the Torq box when you start the software, then swap it for teh serato box. The Torq forum has tons of good info......slimkidchris wrote:Usually you set up before anyone starts.
Also, I've been to alot of places where other dj's bring their serato hardware, so maybe just download serato and have it on your laptop just in case.
I have never had a problem with Traktor Pro and would personally consider it superior. Super stable, brilliant intuitive GUI, beautiful sounding audio interface.urbanfabric wrote:Are you saying that you HAVE problems with Traktor Pro or you DO NOT have problems with Traktor Pro?Caeraphym wrote:If you used Traktor Pro: problems? what problems?
i think he means he doesn't want to stand there fiddling on stage when there's no music playing looking dumb. I guess most mixers in clubs have at least 3 channels so you can unplug the 2 that aren't playing whilst there still being music playing on the other channel. Most will have 4 channels though meaning you won't even need to unplug anythin (bar cdj's)

I plan on upgrading my Traktor 3 software to Traktor Pro soon. Glad to hear that you like Pro.Caeraphym wrote:I have never had a problem with Traktor Pro and would personally consider it superior. a few things to know about torq:
you should always use the same usb 1.1 port or else you will have to reinstall the software and that is a pain
carry a little needle brush with you to clean off the needles you are using
be sure that the cartridge / headshell is mounted properly and you are getting a stereo signal
when you boot up your computer, make sure to give it about 2 minutes to start all the processes before opening torq
and last but not least
take a couple of dubestep records with you just in case you have to restart
this works for me
