lol had the track on my itunes whoops

Sounds like the high mids are quite prominant in it which makes it cut through, probably a fair amount of compression too.

Then again I am still a production noob, I'm gonna wait and see what others bring to the table

Thirteen Ghosts is such a good movie. Lol, great tune too.

I just gave it a listen again and i dont notice the kick as being anything all too special, it doesnt really stand out to me, but i do all my kicks about the same, have a high and a low kick, the same sample if you want, or not, you decide. Make one kick just the bass, and cut it off at around 80-100 hertz, and the other one add some overdrive and just have it be the high freqs, makes your kick stand out well

Just sounds like a real kick processed a bit and high passed quite low?

+1

I don't know why people make such a big deal about kicks. Just make custom kicks... problem solved.

Well, i'll give it a good go considering i'm using headphones, not monitors (so the bottom end may differ slightly) but if it does sound anywhere near as good I will post it up.

i reckon some of this. phasers with no movement on them can make kiks punchy with out being too much. bengas good at making things sound big n wide. but also i reckon its not just how he processed the kik but also its relaltion to the other drums in terms of space.
