New Tune for Jump up & Liquid Heads..free 320!

Post by sam the dnb man » Thu Jan 22, 2009 12:12 am

Just finished a new tune although I might go back to it.
I combined Jump up & Liquid vibes on this one.
I also used Orchestral plug ins and samples.
This tune was done on Logic.

Let me know what u think

Hey.

I aint that keen on d'n'b, so it takes suttin a little special to grab my attention. So, that being said, I'll just approach this track from my perspective.

The track is solid enough, it feels full up, not messy.
Well sequenced events take place, drops, etc
Beat could use some changing up, it's the same through the whole track, it's the same though the whole 16 and 32 too. snares sound a bit mono-tone, try subtly layering your snares on different bars to creat more movement.
if the violin isn't a sample, you might wanna add more emotional chords in there.

keep it up

Hi Sam.

I'll give you some feedback.

I think the track has the foundations to be really banging but at the moment it feels really weak. I'm not saying it not good but I think it needs more weight. like Sabre or Survival track.

You kicks and snares are not punching through the track as much as they should do. Try layering the a few more kicks, grouping them together and have them on there own channel. slap a maximizer and eq on it. Do the same with your snares.

That wobble sound: I'd pitch it down and try and change up the sound a bit.

The sub: I'd use the distortion (can't remember the name of the device) and use the tape setting. This will lift it up a bit and make it sound more beefy on headphones and hi fi speakers.

In the into it sounds like the samples are clashing with eachother. Maybe use a filter on them to give it that drowned out effect.

Oh!.. going back to the kicks and snares... I found using the default reason kicks and snares really crap so I got a sample pack with some proper fat kicks and snares. They say if you have good kicks and snares you don't have to do much to them to fit in your track.
