1st post, 1st tune.
Alright. I've been into this production malarky for about 3 or 4 weeks now. I'm using Reason 4 and I know that my beats aren't going to sound tiptop for a while, but just wanted to get some feedback as to what people think. Be nice to know if I'm going in the right direct!
It's only half the tune so far, but any feedback, positive or negative will be happily received.
(and I've put this in the wrong section, I apologize!!)

Cheers!

Well I think its cause the lack of mods around here - but now theres gunna be one people have stopped being annoying stnuc.Prime|Evil wrote:Thanks! Was a little nervous about really asking for any tips or anything because I know people get flamed for asking standard questions as how do I make bass wobbles or reeces or crap like that, so I've just sat watching and reading. Sythns confuse me, but I'm slowly getting my head round it all!!
Welcome! I'll give it a listen & edit ina bit.

Just listening to your tune now....
I really like the crunchy bit crunched factor going on.
Although the background pad is suffieciently dark, I think it could be worked on. Maybe a deep drone put through a chorus and large reverb?
I'd also work on bringing a drop in earlier. With the drop I'd cut all the intro section out and introduce something completely new.....
But generally, I like the sound you've achieved!

Cheers
Yeah, the drops supposed to be at 33 after the snake sample, but it feel like it drops again 65. Yeah, I wasn;t hundred pc sure about using a bass wobble, so I duplicated it, and put one of them through scream and fiddled around with the digistructer effect thing. That way I had one bass as normal on loud and the other with that digital mess noise in the background.
And yeah, I know, I've kinda ripped off Ed Solo with his Age of dub vocal, but he nabbed it from Age of Love, so I figured why could i just wobble a vocal and do the same!
But yeah, the idea of adding an extra pad sounds sick, get some kind of deep breathing dragon in a cave mess going on.
Thanks for all the advice!! I'll be sure to post again once I've worked on it some more

And the flaming is mainly due to people asking questions that have already been asked, and in turn, answered, many many times over, and/or questions which are covered in the stickied topics at the top of the production forum.
Never hurts to use the search function, but unfortunately that's a concept that some people find hard to grasp!
I gave your tune a listen, and I like where it's going
Hope you don't feel too intimidated by all the abuse hurled around and you continue to post

Had a listen, and it is better than my first track i tried to do.
Loved the dark industrial type feel to it. As said before try to get a stronger sense of structure / drop goin.
Wobble seems a little drowned out when it comes in (Subtractor i'm guessing?), maybe take some bits out when its added.
Normally tracks are posted in the dubs section or "no love in dubs" in this thread for future ones you do.
P.S welcome

No, malstrom actually. Had a play with subtractor, but just wasn't doing what I wanted it to do, or I wasn't doing what it wanted me to do. Either way we had a fight and are no longer on talking terms.Lowpass wrote:

Yeah, cool, I'll try that, cheers!
if wobbles your thang, use it to your ears bleed - who gives a flying fuck what other people thinkPrime|Evil wrote:Haha, nah, I was more worried over my bass wobble usage, that's why I tried to keep it as different as I could. I realized that "mans dat gt cht4daaayz" and "How do I sound like Caspa" = flamege!!
But yeah, well hyped on the feedback, I'll def keep at it!
Tracks not really my thing, to much going on and to many sounds what sound like they've been made through a busted speaker - a lot of people like that thing so fair play.. I feel it could be more progressive instead of going for a 'drop' personally, theres a lot of sounds in there (at least seems like it) maybe build progression and get energy that way? Doesn't sound badly produced at all though so big ups.

That's a good point, maybe play about with bringing elements in and out using the master mixer. That way, the track will be less busy.Legendary wrote:I feel it could be more progressive instead of going for a 'drop' personally, theres a lot of sounds in there (at least seems like it) maybe build progression and get energy that way?

lol yeah it is impossible, they're all seperate images on my page. I used to use reason back in the day so I had them on, thought it looked cool, then moved out of reason and began using albino. Need to take em off really not too keen on it anymore and too many people ask about how I got albino in reasonPrime|Evil wrote:Btw lowpass, I noticed on your myspaz page that you had a pic of your rack from reason and at the bottom was Albino..now is that just been photoshopped in and it's been rewired, or have you found some supersecret hack to stick vstis in. Just I was under the impression that it was impossible??

The high synth double hit that keeps the cadence, is defo panned a little to one side. Could be the left, could be the right, not sure if I have my fones on backwards or just my shirt.Prime|Evil wrote:It's only coming out the left channel?? Hmmm, need to get some good headphones methinks.
The point remains though, that with the other suggestions above and this one, you've got yourself a great sounding tune, which means you're on the right track way earlier on then most.

hmmm...gunna have to get some headphones on the go for that one. I've already cut the intro in half and am just working out a way to turn it from two drops to one drop. Think I know what to do know though. Cheers everyone for the feedback, appreciate it, I'll make sure to post myself up a link once finished! (in the no love for dubs section of course
)

Haha, cheers. Well, I am here to learn techniques, not specific styles, which seems to be taught quite well here. DJ'ing is easy, playing real instruments is tough, but producing is a whole other world!! Fun though, be boring if there was such a thing as a Capsa Button or hamvst. (That actually had me in fucking stitches the amount of people banging on about where to get that!!!) But yeah, cheers for the advice anyway. I'm off to bed with a cuppa and Dave Chappelle. (Obv not Dave actually in my bed, that would be weird.)
