Post by ultomato » Wed Feb 11, 2009 6:57 am

i just rented gta iv and it started up with this tune, just wondering if this would be considered dubstep.

The chap responsible for the track is another Glasgow native. 8)

I wouldn't say it's dubstep, but the guy does do a lot of hiphop. If I'm not mistaken he also did the San Andreas music too.

If you haven't already listen to "Scorpio" by Troublefunk (1982 - Sugar Hill). That GTA tune is definitely inspired by the earlier electronic hiphop sound before it, raw synths and snappy beats ain't nothing new.

Anyone watch Aqua Teen Hunger Force? Check Err the Moononite in the background - classical jokes...

Not sure about it being dubstep but it is a good track have it on the poddy for strutting pon road GTA style ;) lol

I know someone has remixed it the first half is good but im not a huge fan of the skippin effect in the second half, maybe someone should add some dubby bass e.t.c.

I think there's been a few posts on this already.

It could be considered as dubstep. It's got similar elements to the genre anyway. Nonetheless it's a nice track.

on that topic, if anyone remembers the classic tune from the original GTA:

'Da Shootaz - Joy Ride'

Its a project of mine to remix the track... might prove to be a challenge!

I have a 320 and Wav file of the track:

http://rapidshare.com/files/176699005/J ... hootaz.mp3

Have a listen!
"Jonny it is getting beyond ridiculous now.I thought we could get along, but apparently not.Your basses makes the whole house tremble. You crossed the line,no discussion now, will need to resort to drastic measures"
