i don't care where you're from, what you've been through or what religion you follow.... you don't make jokes about people dying or people that are gone already.metalboxproducts wrote:Just wondering

soon this forum will be a 1 view US focussed thing which was always my concern with having foreign moderators.
People need to understand the REALITY of the whole situation, from a complete world perspective.
Check......

BUT
you'd think those 3,000 people were the only to die in the last 5 years the way the media's been carrying on this past week, wouldn't you.
spaceboy, i'm not going to apologize to you for growing up in new york city. just because i work behind the scenes here, doesn't mean i can't have a perspective too.Spaceboy wrote:there's more to the world than manhattan.

Yes thats fine, less of us died. I did quite enjoy the excitement. Bit of a bitch i had to walk home from work though.Product wrote:so i guess it'll be cool when i roll up in here making light of the british attacks?
Don't see you crying for the 62 000 upward's people who have died due the the "war on terror".
Have a read of this for a bit of perspective.

I feel sorry for those affected by 9/11 (or 11/9 as it is over here), and it's a bit shit to reduce these things to headcounts but looking at Darfur, Iraq, Lebanon and elsewhere in the world, this is a drop in the ocean. The retaliation alone has probably killed 30 times the amount of folks killed in that attack, but the image is less iconic.
Seems that as americans dying is more unusual than the poor bastards that are constantly being attacked, it's more newsworthy. How many US citizens are murdered by other US citizens each year - seem to remember it was about 7 times the amount killed in the twin towers a few years back, and doubt it's changed that much. How much money was put into gun control and increasing respect/reducing violence? - I imagine probably fuck all.
I don't mean any disrespect to anybody here that did lose someone there, but it does seem that lives lost in that attack are of far more importance than those lost daily elsewhere.
I used to live in Bognor, and the IRA ceasefire before the last major one, they let off bikebombs there and in Brighton, and this could have killed several of my friends if they'd left work a few minutes later. Fortunately, for all their wrongness, the IRA
a/ don't try and kill themselves if they can help it, and
b/ generally give warnings (although these haven't always been in sufficient time)
As it was, no-one was injured, but my route to the pub was extended about 45 mins, which is preferable to the alternative.
I do hope that these martyrs find that their 68 virgins are all male star trek fans.
