think theres going to be a bit of a issue over you guys calling your night rubadub, ive been running a night called ''rubberdub'' for nearly 2 years now in nottingham. were already well established, just type rubberdub in google and its all listings for our night.

think you guys need to take a namecheck mate

What he said.
Even if you'd copyrighted the name Rubberdub and they were in Nottingham you wouldnt have a leg to stand on with getting them to change the name due to the different spellings.

Just accept the fact that somewhere in the country someone else came up with a similar name to yourselves, without even knowing they you exsited, and get on with it.

When they branch out in to the Notts area then get pissed off about it, till then whats the point in stressing over somethign that wont effect either night?

its just inconsiderate, how would ppl feel if someone started a night called supper sub dub or something??, i know its spelt differently but any decent promoter who knows the sean and knows whats going off would have realized the names already taken? its just cheep...

secondly the situation of 2 ppl using the same name in notts would never happen, we have respect for each others nights.... at the end of the day it i wouldn't have any problem with it IF it was not in the north of england, as it is tho it creates the problem of us both posting events on the same board under practically the same name.

the only reason i am raising the point is that as this is the first event you guys have posted it wouldn't be to hard to just change the name or something?

anyone who had love for the music just wouldn't do it.

I really dont think that this night in St Helens is going to effect your night in any way. It might be the case that you have both put an event on at the same time but anyone who sees the listings can clearly tell the difference. The name is spelt differently and its in another part of the country.

A lack of love for the music isnt the reason they've picked that name I'm sure. If you've ever been to St Helens then you'll know that what they are doing is pretty brave. You probably couldnt get a hip hop night started there let alone a dubstep, dnb night.

I cant really say why the promoter chose the name they did but I assume its because it gives the town a sense of what the night is about. Even if they double checked to see if the name was taken all they would have found was an online store and a link to the cockney rhyming slang for pub.

Rubberdub has been well established and respected by artist's, the promoters of Nottingham and the hundreds of regulars that love the night.

Big up rubberdub.

Theres a night in Glasgow called Sub Club, Im not aware of Subdub ever kicking off about that.
Theres a night in Wrexham called Freak, I know there are several others with the same name
Theres a night in Liverpool called Superfly, I know of at least one more UK night called Superfly
I promote a night called No Excuses, there is a goverment campain using the name at the moment, I cant see Gordon Brown changing it for me.

It wouldnt happen anywhere, the fact is you are in 2 completely different cities and have different names.

Mountains out of molehills springs to mind.

We seriously didn't think it would cause this much trouble.

The term has been around for longer than both of us and I've personally used it for a good while with my own stuff ( I've got forum mail with the name on from 2007 ). We did google Rubadub and we didn't see any nights using it, so we thought it would fine.
If we were based in Nottingham then we'd probably of come across you but here in the NW, there isn't much chance of that.

At the end of the day, we're just throwing a party in a bar and putting the word out about it.
We're not trying to take over Nottingham, or the UK...we're just using a name that's known to people, who've heard my tag from previously to this.
