moshers at dubstep nights

Post by brass monkey » Tue Mar 03, 2009 8:57 am

i thought id start this topic becasue id really like to know what veryone elses take is on it before dmz

personally i hate it when a big tune comes on people start topush eachother around and throwing innocent bystanders to the other side of the dancefloor. Not only is this jsut plain annoying but its to the point were you cant enjoy the tune beacsue your watching out for an elbow to the face or being squashed against a pillar.

seen this at drum'n'bass nights and occasionally at fwd as well.
Depends on the crowd that wanders in that night.

I guess it depends on who you see, and what gig it is.

I personally love it. Wouldn't obviously do it if I was at a Coki night or anything, but theres nothing like getting a bit crazy when Wheres my Money is dropped at Bangfcae or something.

But that's not the case. I wouldn't start one if I wasn't around like-minded people. I'm happy swaying gently at a night out, but won't go mad if it's not that kind of place.

I wouldn't scream 'FUCK, TUNE!' and then steam into my nan if it was my sisters wedding party and Saxon was dropped or anything.* It would just be inappropriate and uncalled for.

*Actually I would. I'd record it, upload it onto Youtube and give it the title 'NAN GETS BATTERED.' I'd be an internet hero in no time.

I think you'll find these are the official rules:

Dubstep - Skanking.

Drum n Bass - Jumpin up and down or whatever energetic repetitive dance you feel like.

Breakcore - Full mosh acceptable, hell, demanded.

I would hate to see moshing at a dubstep night cos its just not what its about but when theres mash up breakcore goin off you just gotta chuck yourself in there and shut off all sensory perception except your ability to appreciate the tunes cos otherwise its gonna hurt like fuck :p

There's a time and a place for shocking out, but I dont condone "moshing"

There are plenty of tunes that will make you shout abuse at the dj booth and jump about like an utter tnuc. But physically pushing people about and getting aggy like that is stupid and incredibly annoying, especially when im working the crowd with my camera!

There's a fine line between skanking and moshing, a line that should never be crossed.

I think we all know what needs to be done......

bouncers hanging from the ceiling on harnesses swinging forward and back across the club armed with crossbows to take out any rogue moshers.

fuck off.

any extreme reactions to music == good.

only thing i hate is when people dance to horribly shit tunes at DMZ

makes me really sad, its always me and a few other heads who look at each other like "they don't notice the difference between a shite tune and a diamond?"

makes me not wanna go to raves anymore basically...
