i dont get it

- jazz songs that mix with dubstep, bpm wise (good question)

- dubstep with a jazz influence

On our next release on Surface Tension.... STNSN002 Overcast Radio - Midnight Sun / Vendetta

both tunes have live instruments on them.

http://blog.surfacetensionrecs.com/?page_id=20

You can listen to all our tunes on that link, but specifically the tunes are Midnight Sun and Vendetta.

Vendetta: Daniel Carter on Sax.
Midnight Sun: Michael Leonhart on Trumpet.

(If you haven't heard of these names, you should consider googling them and being amazed at the body of work. Honestly mind blowing!)

You can grab both of those tunes on STNSN002: Overcast Radio - Midnight Sun / Vendetta. Also, DEFINITELY check the stuff on Soul Motive for some AMAZING instrumental genius shit.

I've also been known to batter an Alto sax, but odds are you'll never hear that. Thankfully... hopefully :D

Jazzseppa is the obvious one, which includes acoustic sax and drums and effects. Silkie seems to be influenced by Jazz and funk. I have't heard any dubstep that uses extended chord sequences, as it seems lead melodic instruments anchor around a set key or even chord (which aint a criticism). A hybrid presents difficulties because dubstep (like hip hop) has a set beat or tempo wheareas Jazz usually varies the tempo and time signature. Miles Davis attempted a Jazz Hip Hop hybrid called doo-bop which arguably never took off, because the frenetic energy of the Jazz was lost when constrained by a hip hop beat, and conversely, the solid momentum of the hip hop beat was disrupted by the fluidity of Miles improvisation.

I've used a number of elements from jazz in my own productions.

Forthcoming album has a track "Dark Jazz" and alot of my newer stuff has plenty influence from common jazz instruments etc.
