Traktor / Serato?

Hi all.

So I'm finally very close at getting my Technics and a decent mixer, now I just want to collect some information about these two software, so I'm all set.

I see there's a price difference, Serato is more expensive. Why is that? Isn't it the same concept and don't you get the same things?

I know you hate the "which is best" questions, but let me put it this way "why is Serato more expensive?"

I use traktor only so I couldn't tell you which is better but I've found it to be a very good program

there both great but, if you plan on getting booked anywhere then most likey the in house set up will be serato... thats something to take into consideration.

I like Traktor a lot better, but it may just be personal preference.

iv heard pretty good things about it... the either or with it tho is the same with what turntables or cdjs to buy, it really just comes down to what you will be playing on at a gig. same the with turntables and cd decks...

word is that torq is really good too.

Traktor Scratch Pro or STFU!

Better quality interface/soundcard made with high quality components by Germans who actually give a shit how something sounds aswell as how it operates.

Superior timecoding vinyl.

Immense effects section.

It doesn't matter what the prefered medium is in clubs/venues because changing over interfaces is as easy as plugging in your laptop ffs, and can be done one channel at a time between mixes to avoid any disturbances whilst setting up.

And if it's good enough for Richie Hawtin...

Serato does what it says on the tin... near flawless vinyl emulation... it doesnt try and fuck around with effects and all that shit... its just there... nice interface which is clear and easy to maneuver around...

Serato's price bad is fail. TS isn't that much more but you get a lot more for your money IMO. The Scratch Amp or whatever they call it is worth the price tag almost in itself imo. That said I use Torq. Really nice set up for the poorboys. Extra win now that I got my new 45rpm vinyls from mspinky.

o.k real talk here as i have used both extensively .
traktor is a superior product in every way. no arguments.
however i now use ableton w/the apc 40, and its light years beyond that.
if you must have the vinyl approach one thing to consider is
serato is in the process of integrating with ableton and the initial feedback is amazing. you may want to hold off for a short while.
