yeah i thought it sounded a bit like some of the slightly more 4/4 dubstep e.g. 12th planet. like it though, definitely a solid effort for a first go.

What could be done to make it more like funky? honest question, cheers for the comment.

Basically, the intro to me comes like a dubstep track, especially with the chanting sample. I like it though. The drop comes pretty hard & unexpected. The bass sound is pretty aggressive, probably a little too loud & aggressive for a funky tune.

To me funky is basically built on the drums & percussion with everything else fitting around it. This tune is the other way around to me with the bass very much being the main element and then the chanting sample.

The tracks not bad though, i've heard not disimilar stuff dropped un dubstep sets. Its just a case of deciding what sort of tune you are making.
