Bit too much like hard work for my liking. Why use energy and effort to slow down when you could just get a free wheel bike with brakes?

I don't know much about them other then the are the most trendy hipster bikes around where I live. To each there own, but where I live it is more for fashion then practicle use.

I used to, I used to be right into mountain biking. Now it's about 6 years since I last rode a bike

But as for trendy fixed wheels... not my bag (just realised this is what you mean  )

I ride one... I enjoy it quite a bit, just a different feeling altogether, much more in touch with the road.

I'm not doing it to fit in or anything, I just like it.

the soundtrack is fucking tragic

had to turn it off after 1 min 40s..

i ride a mountain bike around london, its a nightmare for weaving in and out of traffic and going uphill. but the acceleration is good.

id like one of these city bikes but i dont know the first thing about them. dont like the idea of having to sit so high on the seat that i need to lean forward and not being able to touch my feet on the ground whenever i want... also when i park up in london no one touches my bike. but i always see these city bikes with one stolen wheel.

no idea

some have the wheels still on
some have them still off
in all my time cycling ive never seen someone taking the wheel off / carrying a wheel round with them

but its a possibility

... Agreed.

There are a lot of 'hipsters' who give fixed gear bikes a bad name... but...

If you're into bikes the feeling of having to be totally alert and 'at one with the bike' (sounds a bit yoghurt weavery, but when your legs / you are the brakes) can't be beaten....... If that's what your into :)

i ride one everyday at work and love it.
and please please dont turn the dubstep forum into a bitch site about fixies and hipsters. some people ride them for fashion, others for the "zen" like feeling, some because they are easy to take care of, etc etc etc. the point is they are riding a bike and not driving a car.
