DOOM - Born Like This

Post by brey » Tue Mar 24, 2009 10:59 pm

Good to have the fella back. This album is extremely solid, probably the only hip hop album (vocally), that is worth copping. Here's hoping for Madvillainy 2 & Swift & Changeble this year also.
It leaked a while back, but I felt it best to start the thread till the album was released and bought.

it sounded more like a half assed mixtape than an album, the mixing/mastering was poor and i've heard enough of mf dooms wack special herbs series beats. mf doom needs a true new album with 100% new songs and beats (preferably none self-produced).

as usual you weigh in on the negative side :) don't agree that special herbs is wack, kinda see what you're saying in that it's no operation doomsday, but it's really not a bad LP at all if you ask me.

have to agree, theres some killers but as a whole it doesn't flow like an old doom album and just lacks something imo

i think it's a great album. there's some heavy tracks on there, a few very mediocre ones too though. tbh he's got a hard job ever trying to top madvillainy

him and Madlib BOTH need to come out with Madvillainy 2 so bad at this point.

both of them haven't really done anything beat series since, except for Mmmm Food and Further Adventures of Lord Quas on the emceeing front.

but both those dropped 2005 right after madvillain blew up.

those cats can only ride for so long on Beat Konducta and Special Erbs, we need to hear some new shit! full tilt!

Just heard this today and :o .

Doom goes so hard on this! I'd say theres only a few tracks that I Dont like. And the janky beats just add to the vibe
If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits 88 miles per hour, you're going to see some serious shit.

lmfao @ Mos doing Doom lyrics...

"He rhymes as weird as i feel..."

Mos & Doom need to do an original album...with Madlib on beats...a few guest shots thrown in would be on some other level shit...MadDef...DefVilliany...hahahaha...

Doom's production isnt too far off. I admit my money has gone to the Beat Konducta rather than Special Herbs, but i do like Doom's funky, overly-layered style now & then. and anything his voice graces is fucking golden.

...should remember that Dumile don't rap for free he's a capitalist. He told us this on 'Back End' as Viktor Vaughn. Ahh lest we forget...

"Dub it off your man, don't spend that ten bucks/
I did it for the advance, the back end sucks"

DOOM likes bootleggers. Yeah he said that. Go download.
