I was thinking about buying 1 CDJ, since I have a 3-way mixer already, and there are a lot of tunes I'd like to be able to spin that I can't get on vinyl.

but idunno, probably not gonna get one. :|

we do on Rinse but cut dubs for clubs (from the very best tunes we play on Rinse). always prefer the sound and feel of dubs/vinyl but am finally getting used to CDJs.

People like Spyro can do some very remarkable things with them, and if you get two tunes truly locked they stay locked for days!

Saw breakage at FWD a while back. He used nothing but CD decks that night.

eh?

tons of djs use cdjs to mix, almost every club has a set of them, some only have cdjs, some only have decks...if you play out a lot you will end up using them at some point

the only djs that spring to mind right now that exclusively use cds are rossi b and lucca and theyre sick live!

This. When I get CDs going just right I love staying in the mix the whole way till the end of the last tune, without having to worry about shifting off tempo. Even the best decks you have to do slight adjustments as you mix. I love the sound and feel of vinyl, but I figure on most systems nobody can hear the difference anyway...

There's more DJ's than you think who use CD's, have been for years. I use Torq so I can switch between the two but my partner's been on 'em since Pioneer came out with the 1000's.

Wich is normal in your case, since 90% off the stuff you mix is forthcoming and digital :D
Anyway, I use vinyl, but I have not much against CDJ's, but from what I've heard mixing with vinyl is way harder than mixing with CDJ's.

well, i dunno. to master to vinyl/dub you have to roll off, ie cut, everything above about 17kHz, which is the high end of what you can hear. it's also the kind of frequencies that cause tinitus.

add in the fact that the gain (volume) out of a CDJ deck is much louder than a vinyl deck and i defintely notice the loud sonic harshness when DJs use CDs in clubs...

I use CDJs a lot more now than I used to, mainly down to not being rich enough to cut everything I want to dub. It's also very handy if you say you only like one track on an EP and it's available digitally. I used to be totally against cds because I love vinyl so much but now I don't see an issue as long as you're playing good music I don't care how you're doing it.
