Anyone else into these guys? Love how they put so many influences together to get such an immense, original sound.

Their new album slays.

Seen them twice. They occasionally remind me of the Melvins a bit too much for their own good (then again, who can blame them for wanting to sound like one of the best metal bands ever?), but they're great. Haven't heard 'Crack The Skye' yet, though.

seen them 3 times now...once by themselves...once with Slayer & Lamb of God in Atlanta(Mastodon's hometown)...that was a fucking amazing set...also my girl won vip tickets to see them with Against Me last year...we went for Mastodon & left when AM! started, despite the kush seats. went to the merch booth & purchased a hoodie from the Mastodon bass player who was very nice & fairly drunk. I fucking love that they collaborate with Adult Swim which is also from their hometown...i would have fucking killed to have seen them in Europe with Tool. now that you mention it, it's about mastodon time again...

Don't talk, watch! Don't talk, watch!
You came here. Watch it. Don't like it? Walk out.
We still have all your ****ing money!!!

Do not nudge, kick or jiggle the seat in front of you. I'm sitting there!
I am everywhere at once and I will cut you up.
If you make out here, I will cut your lips and tongue
from your head with a linoleum knife.
Do not explain the plot. If you don't understand, then you should not be here.
Your money is our money...and we will spend it on drugs!!
Do not crinkle your food wrappers loudly.
Be considerate to others,or I will bite your torso and give you a disease.
Did you bring your baby? Babies don't watch this!
Take the seed outside. Leave it in the streets. Run over it after the show...

Satan will rain down your throat with hot acid

If I find that you've sold it on eBay,
I will break into your house
and tear your wife in half!!!

The new album is actually pretty good but it took me a while to come around to all the clean vocals. Great band. I saw them open for Slayer a few years ago and it was grouse.

mastadon rok!. But my fave of the genre gotta be meshuggah. Seriously, heavy and twisted. Had a big influence in working with poly rythms and creating an equally gutteral and alien sound with dubstep. Will post when finally happy with mixes.
the album Chaossphere my top pick. check it out

Meshuggah are awesome man, about as brutal as they come.

Same goes for Mastodon, can't believe how much they've progressed over each album.

I Didn't expect to find this thread on a dubstep forum..you lot are more cultured than I thought :D

Mastodon are frickin Awesome!

I was always put off by their name when they first came out....I just presumed they would be uber viking doom core or something but was pleasantly surprised by their diversity.

Crack the skye is alot more melodic than their other albums, but thats not such a bad thing...
