Carillon midi keyboard driver problems anyone?

Post by miscreant » Sun Apr 05, 2009 9:16 am

Just got a 25 key midi keyboard cos my old bigger one packed in the other day - its meant to be a plug n play but it doesnt seem to be being recognised by pro tools or reason, think its a driver issue except there werent any drivers included with the cd that came with it. The fucking company have gone bust so theres no information on their website.

Now i know my final solution will be to phone Reverb and get them to tell me what to do otherwise i send it back but i'd rather get it sorted without having to do that - any of yous use carillon gear and/or heard about driver problems?

Have you got Vista?
I was gonna get one of these keyboards a while ago, but I didn't bother in the end cos apparently there were no drivers available for Vista and also some later updates of XP.
Apparently you won't be able to get one unless some third party driver comes out if anyone can make one.

I've got the Carillon Control 25, from Reverb too :D I managed to get to work in Reason 4 by selecting "M-Audio <other> (MIDI Control Keyboard)" in the Keyboards and Control Surfaces section of the preferences.

However i do remember screwing around with drivers for ages, but i can't remember which one i got cuz i tried the oxygen V1 driver, and some other one which was like the one provided on the CD.

i'ts called midilink driver. works for me in xp and Windows 7, so vista i assume also. - http://www.dankadata.com/files.html

Also it all works fine for me, except the dials along the top. they are recognised as sending midi by massive, but not by ableton....wonder if i try this m-audio option it might work....

one thing that seems to work for me. is leaving it off when you switch on the computer. then switching keyboard on, once your in windows. then switch on your DAW (ableton in my case). seems to work in my case.

Sorry it's not working dude. I am actually buying something new to replace it soon myself due to the knob at the top not working. Maybe sell it to someone who has windows 7?

Having the exact same problem myself. I installed the bit in that link but it says operating system not supported, i'm also windows 7. I've the carillon 25 key aswell and was hoping it'd be possible to install a Oxygen 8 v2 mapping on it since they're so similar using M-audio Enigma software. Does anyone know if this is possible or if theire is similar software for mapping the carillon 25?

Thanks

hey guys, i'm really not sure how i got it to work - in ableton. i installed and uninstalled the driver quite a few times. then i think windows provided an update to the midi link driver through windows update? maybe see if that is avaialble for you. it was real fiddly but ventually you will get there. sorry i cant reproduce the sequence to work out how i did it.

try uninstalling, unplugging it. restarting the computer. installing driver. rebooting. plug in keyboard. it was somthin like that.

thought i'd give my 2 cents seeing as this thread keeps getting bumped - I dont know what the problem is but i never got mine working after trying loads of different shit, the company went bust so theres no way of getting any direct help from them and reverb dont want to know so i just decided to move on and bought an oxygen 8 v2 for 60 quid, little bit more expensive but i plugged it in and first time it works with everything. The best advice if youve tried everything and it still didnt work would be go out, buy another keyboard from a brand that are still going, then take your carillon outside and smash it the fuck up with a sledgehammer.

problem solved.

Guys - I have a solution!

I have the Carillon 61 and Windows 7 64bit and it didn't work with it..

I read somewhere that oxygen 61 (m-audio) and carillon control 61 are the same keyboard - rebranded. so I found the driver for the oxygen and it works now in ableton!

http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=sup ... releases=1

choose oxygen 61/49/25 (blue) and WIndows 7 64 bit (or anything else you have) and make sure the 'Show older releases' tickbox is ticked at the right bottom. download oxygen 1.0.5 (the generic driver) and it will work!
