Post by skwirrel » Sun Apr 12, 2009 4:13 am

Went from...

Rock -
Rock & Metal -
Rock & Metal & DnB & Dubstep

So yeah now i'm a member of the hybrid Metalstep generation...
Erm, so i came from Metal and have become obsessed with Dubstep.

edit;

Punk & Ska
Hip-Hop
Jungle
Dn'b
Dubstep

I only really started getting into dn'b and jungle when I was... 13, I think. then later on starting really getting into dubstep.

so, now its pretty much only; Dubstep/Dn'b/Jungle/Hip-Hop

me:

primary and secondary school: rock, metal, a bit of electronic (the so-called jungle: general levy, prodigy), local gangsta or underground hip-hop
highschool: metal, punk
college: metal, punk, drum'n'bass, hip-hop
after: dubstep, reggae, hip-hop, a bit of metal

I guess I was always after pace and "shuffle" (as Rusko calls it).

I went to my first rave at 19. But I made up so fast after that and still doing it

When not that interested in music:
Pop rap, rock and metal.

Radiohead.

More weird and often electronic bands/artists:
e.g. Siger Ros, Autechre, Aphex Twin.

During this time I was hearing drum and bass and bands like the prodigy which I quite liked. I hear a lot of drum and bass at parties.

Then I got into some less mainstream drum and bass but basically as soon as I did I found out about dubstep and went from there (about 2 years ago).

Got well into Muse, then spiralled out of control downloading loads of there stuff, some DMX, Tupac tracks, then Radiohead.

Was buying stuff like Hendrix, and Trivium at about 16/17, which turned into going back to Slipknot and stuff like that. Moved onto The Game, listening to Corrine Bailey Rae at the time too. Remember a short obsession with the Chilis.

Now I'm 20 and listen to everything. Dubstep got into me early last year, but I listen to anything now. Death metal, electro, trip-hop, definitely minimalist piano, rap, old school hip hop like Souls Of Mischief and Tribe. What ever gets the vibes going. Loving Venetian Snares again at the minute though.

We should be bound by nothing.

1989 till present:
Thrash Metal
Death Metal
Grindcore
Hip Hop
Big Beat/Funk
Dubstep
nowadays all of the above minus Thrash Metal which became wack since I have discovered Death Metal in 1990. Also some Drum-n-Bass, Jazz, Reggae/Dancehall... basically everything I like.

My evolution, not so special:
About 10: Hip hop, rock, mainstream stuff
10-12: rock, hard rock
12-14: metal (death, trash, black)
14-15: metal, dnb, jungle, dubstep, jazz, reggae
16-? (now): dubstep, jungle, dnb, jazz, reggae, dub, garage and trash/death metal
But I mainly listen dubstep. Probably forgot some stuff that I listen to occasionaly.
