Akira Kiteshi, Troublemaker and more in Cardiff

Post by kaptin » Mon Apr 13, 2009 11:26 pm

Since our plans for an illegal Chrome Kids party were scuppered by CID we're gonna tow the line for this one and have it in a proper club. Should be a big night! Akira Kiteshi and Troublemaker are some of our favourite DJs at the moment, AK are killing it on the filthy Dubstep side of things and Troublemaker has made some killer Hip-hop, Electro, Dubstep tunes of late. For those who don;t yet know get edumacated:

Akira Kiteshi - www.myspace.com/technoirbeats also check out their recent mix for Rob Booth's Electronic Explorations show (there's been a couple of posts for that flying round on this forum I believe).

Troublemaker - www.myspace.com/djtroublemaker - can download mixes and bootlegs for free from there too.

We've also got, on the Dubstep side of things:

Monkey - www.myspace.com/monkeydubz2 plus will hopefully be flying Stagga back from Berlin for it.

Magenta - www.myspace.com/magentadub

Diverse Concepts - www.myspace.com/diverseconcepts1

On the other side of things...

Chesus & Rodski - www.myspace.com/chesusnrodski (Baltimore / Fidget)

Tommy B (Electro / Party)

Bryce Davies (from Dub In The Pub spinning some Reggae to warm the place up)

and I don't know what the hell I'm gonna play yet :)

We've also got Zwolf (www.myspace.com/zwolfzwolfzwolf) who will be celebrating the launch of his Fre-Release EP through Chrome Kids on the same day with a half hour set.

All this at Glo Bar on Firday June 5th - Put it in your diaries people.

just confirmed Stagga and have also added Mr Curtamos to the bill... so the line up now looks like:

Chrome Kids take on Glo Bar's 'Big City Beats' to bring you a massive first party with some of our favourite deejays. Two rooms of Dubstep, Reggae, Electro, Baltimore, Fidget and anything else we can throw in to make the walls at Glo shake. Many of these artists will be familiar to regular visitors to the Chrome Kids blog: www.chromekids.com

TROUBLEMAKER
myspace.com/djtroublemaker

Currently number one in the Chrome Kids chart with his killer remix of Peter Bjorn & John's 'Nothing to Worry About'. The Hollyrock hotstepper has been tearing up the LA party scene of late and has been getting bookings off the likes of Shepard Fairey and Arnold Schwarzenegger! He has provided remixes for everyone from Bonde Do Role to Justice and even popped up on both Linkin Park and Johnny Cash's remix albums. He recieved the award for best mixtape of the year from URB Magazine & Scion and his latest (simply entitled '4') should give you an idea why. Download it here:

AKIRA KITESHI
myspace.com/technoirbeats

This Edinburgh crew Seem to have popped up on nearly every mix / show we've done and with good reason. Their wobble heavy tracks are possibly some of the best Dubstep and experimental Hip-hop we've ever heard. Check out their recent mix for the seminal Rob Booth podcast Electronic Explorations.

ZWOLF
myspace.com/zwolfzwolfzwolf

This date also coincides with our Fre-Release of Zwolf's EP which features some incredible tracks with vocals by the likes of Martin Carr (Boo Radleys) and Junior Disprol (Dead Residents) .

STAGGA & MONKEY

Part of the family, we couldn't have a party without em, even though Stagga is now based in Berlin. Between them the boys have had their Dubz played by the likes of Mary Anne Hobbs, Starkey, N Type (who rewound one of Monkey's tracks twice in one show), Rossi B & Luca, Raffertie, T Minus, Hatcha, Chef, RSD, Jamie Vexed Rob Da Bank, Huw Stephens, Bethan Elfyn, Crises (Rinse FM), Komonazmuk (HENCH) and plenty more.

CHESUS & RODSKI
myspace.com/chesusnrodski

Radio 1 DJ and Bestival head honcho Rob Da Bank put these fellas as 'ones to watch' in iDJ magazine and not without good reason. They tear up the dancefloor with their mix of Baltimore, Fidget, Electro, Garage and anything inbetween. Their new release will be dropping via On The Brink shortly and this appearance will see them warming up for their residency at Bigger Than Barry's parties in Ibiza alongside Toddla T & Tomb Crew. Check out their recent Radio 1 Mini Mix.

MR CURTAMOS
myspace.com/mrcurtamos

Providing some of the sickest bootlegs on the circuit, that had him at one time riding high in the Juno chart with no less than 3 tunes in one week. His Walk N Skank remix has never failed to make a club go ape shit. Check his version of Santogold's 'Creator':

and his latest mix...

MAGENTA
myspace.com/magentadub

Another name on every Dubstep aficiendo in the city, not olny does he make some killer D&B but his Dubz are on some next level business.

DIVERSE CONCEPTS
myspace.com/divereseconcepts1

An apt name as this man has no barriers with his music, the one thing that ties them together is they're all damn good. We played one of his Hip-hop tracks on Rob Da Bank & Friends and then a Dubstep track on Bethan Elfyn's show, no barriers and no hold barred either.

TOMMY B
myspace.com/tommybhq

Not only does he throw some damn fine parties himself with his Tommy B presents events but he knows how to turn a dancefloor into a sweat pit armed only with a big bag of phat Electro and party tracks. Check out his 'Let's Party' mix:

BRYCE DAVIES
peacefulprogress.co.uk

The Dub In The Pub nights are fast gaining a reputation as the best reggae night in the city and always has a great atmosphere, helped in no small part by this here organiser and resident DJ (not to mention graf artist and b-boy - check his website for some great work)

Magenta's a bad man.

Rodski is also a bad man, but since he has to sign that register nowadays he's calmed down a bit.

very bad indeed :)

Tom, are you on my twitter and did I ask you about keys the other day? Only someone at your place picked up a friend of mine's keys at the burger van the other day by mistake. He got em back, all is good but know he wanted to have a word about something else and wondered if it might have been you by chance?
