Brackles / Braiden / Oneman ???
Brackles / Braiden / Oneman ???
it seems pretty clear, to me at least, that these three are WAY ahead of the pack when it comes to DJing.
maybe youngsta and chef can match them for mixing skills, but they don't play anything like the range of genres, styles, BPMs etc that brackles, braiden and oneman do.
and maybe kode9 varies his sets as much as these guys but he can't really touch them when it comes to mixing.
so, who's top boy in the manor??
i think personally i gotta go for braiden - such creative mixing and regularly drops mixes that literally make you stop and say 'rah'.
but then brackles and oneman both play a fair bit of grime in their sets, which is always a good look.
and then Brackles is producing pure fire at the moment and can play nuff of his own dubs (also got oneman with the grime vocal mash-ups too) .. it's a tough one to call!
there's so many bass/dubstep nights around now that it can be hard choosing which ones to reach. basically, if one these 3 is playing - go.
big up.

good thread...
hard to choose, personally braiden's mixes are dutty, keeps them in for time, he is a locker's...standard.
Oney is a budmun, those garage tunes in his selection are fire, some top draw dubs...

yeah i think BenUFO deserves a more than honourable mention..
in fact he would have been in the list if i'd seen him play out more, but i think i've spent more time shouting into his ear at FWD than i have seeing him DJ, which is a shame. i'll catch him at the coronet on saturday tho.
seriously tho, the way all of these guys mix garage, dubstep, grime and funky is just next level.. big inspiration for me and anyone else in the early stages of their DJ life.

That Elgato kiddo also mixes a rather interesting palette of garage/house/dub/step/bage/funky/grime/bass as does Skipple, with a dose of Broken Beat and that for good measure.
I reckon we should put them all in the big brother house with 18 turntables, the dirt sound system, and £50,000 to spend on discogs. It'll be called Britain's Next Top DJ. At the end of a gruelling 12 week course of demeaning mixing related challenges one DJ will be rewarded with the chance to DJ at the Honey Academy's end of year party, where all the honeys wiggle to celebrate their graduation after 3 years of studying advanced hottness.
Just a suggestion like.

again, if i'd seen him play out more he would no doubt be on the list. but i think i've spent more time selling him records than seeing him DJ, which is also a shame.

Was just listening to Oneman s generation bass mix again to hear GetAJob VIP when I saw this thread!
Good thread, impossible to choose, I agree with everything in your 1st post.
incidentally, does anyone know whats happening with Toasty - Lickable?

yep big up brackles i remember when he used to dj the hiphop night in faces nottingham back in the flipping day. seen him blowing up alot of raves and after parties and hes a great guy too, top producer also.
ben ufo + elgato should be on that list... check how eclectic there mixes are and they are always supporting new artists not just in the dubstep scene which is an admirable thing to do. not to mention ben ufo runs the top dubstep label hessle audio and elgato & him regularly feature on SUB FM which is a big look and a great show.
oneman is a great dJ too and his tune selection is niiiiiice. hes got those loefah dubplates that no one else will ever get except a select few DJs. his mixing of dmzish dubstep and oldschool garage is flawless. same with braiden. from what ive heard of braiden he also has a good knowledge of techno.
i don't think i can pick which one to vote for! they are all big dj's and i can only echo what others have said - if u see them on a flyer make sure u check 4 them and buy em a drink in the dance cause they keep the place bubblin all night!!!!
