Wonky forum/website?
Hey guys,
Does anyone know if there's a forum or board out there solely about wonky? I'm looking for a place to hear tracks and talk production

to differentiate it from normal top 40 hiphop and we all know what he means? If he just said hiphop I would point him in a completely different direction...zin wrote:I still don't understand why people use this stupid name WONKY for hip hop.
http://glitchhopforum.com Unfortunately, as the name suggests it focusses on the shit side of new style hiphop (w***y) imo. Crunk acapellas over epic mid range synths FTL. Most of that shit is just watered down dubstep anyway, bar a handfull of 'ducers. Might be some good production threads over there though?
I think this sub forum is the best place you are gonna find for discussion on good hiphop, although its become s bit stagnent of late

It's absolutely awful. Tbf, I think LA is pretty much the capital of this stuff, and I don't think I've ever heard anyone here say 'wonky'. In fact, if you said 'wonky' here, I think everyone would just look at you like...zin wrote:gotchapidge wrote:to differentiate it from normal top 40 hiphop and we all know what he means? its called fucking hiphop. top 40 is just that, crap & nothing else. what you refer to is real hiphop, just updated. sounds more like Dilla really. just cus it uses different plug-ins doesnt make it at all similar to my hair when i get up in the morning ie. wonky, according to my girl, and shes never heard the genre name...

this forum will do nicely..
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""WONKY"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""" is nothing new, its just that a lot of people are hearing vaguley human rhythms who know nothing about music history and think its some new thing they have to label.
no, sorry - it's still just hiphop production with a diffrent flava..

ye a place where people can call their music anything they like... who cares what its called anyway, i mean IDM is stupid but its widely used and understood.
how would u explain a track thats not made on the quantise grid, and slightly speeds up and slows down? its wonky...
next we can attack robostep.... its not real dubstep its too futuristic...
people like loops haunt, mount kimbie, rustie, excision etc, keeping music interesting... instead of half the folk putting an LFO on their bass and calling it dubstep.
bring on the experimental music.
