I have recently been using the demo version of Blue. Thinking of upgrading to the full package soon...

Arturia's minimoog vst is absolutely amazing - their arp 2600 is brilliant too but you need a hefty system to run it. Also the imposcar is fantastic, and i recently started using logic's built in es1 and es2 after reading that loefah (i think) used them. you can get some good sounds out of it. The korg ms-20 vst is also great.
FL 404, 3x Osc or Buzz Generator synths are my fave at the mo..
nice warm PURE sounds that you can sculpt yourself, with fancy vst's I find even the preset on startup usually has so much effect and modulation you have to spend half an hour just stripping back to the oscilators before you can start buildiong your sound

it doesn't take that long to switch off the effects!unlikely wrote:FL 404, 3x Osc or Buzz Generator synths are my fave at the mo..

Just wanted to add a hardware synth that is the absolute tits for bass: the Waldorf Pulse. You can only get them second hand now, but they go for £200 or less, and they're fat as fuck.
I've not tried it specifically for dubstep, but I can't remotely imagine it wouldn't tear your face of in this sound too.

yeah and most vsts have an initial setting anyhow, even if it isn't the defaultandythetwig wrote:it doesn't take that long to switch off the effects!unlikely wrote:FL 404, 3x Osc or Buzz Generator synths are my fave at the mo..

Spectrasonics Trilogy for sub
Synapse Junglist/Novakill EgoKiller for midrange bass..
I use plenty more vsti's for bass but these are my 3 favorites..fruity's own 3xosc and sytrus aint to bad either
I spent about 2 months building my own patches in junglist, egokiller, etc..
Doing the same thing now with malstrom/subtraktor in reason. Those two synths are fucking wicked..

where do you start!
Trilogy is deep, nice low enders but very limited.
Ravity S is nice, Ultra Focus, Blue, Zeta, Octopuss and minimonsta are all top notch softsynths
Check BFD Drums for your hits n kicks too, nice bit of kit
Cant beat a bit of hardware tho...
