Trance/Dubstep Fusion...

As many of you may know (and probz irritated by) i'm trying to promote a kind of trancey/dubstep hybrid genre...

Here is the latest installment with a remix of Y-traxx's classic; mystery land. (Off kevin and perry)

Im expecting a tough time to get this genre through... as dubstep obviously is more of a grimey and ermmm "eviler" genre where as trance is alot more relaxed...

Let me know opinions.

Well... To me it sounds more like something from a chill out cd. Or soulfull house maybe. Only the beats are steppin.

Don't really see a new sub-genre here sorry... :?

But... It does sound nice and chilled out though. So maybe you shouldn't be looking towards dubstep as the major factor here, but more the other way around... Because I think the soulfull and chill genre's could do with some interesting dubstep beats :)

Just do what feels natural I guess. But setting out to create a new genre is generally something that just comes, or it doesn't... So I guess you prob shouldn't be trying with that as a goal... Just make great music and see what happens!

no i don't think you can say dubstep is grimey or "eviler" genre, there a lot of influences. dubstep can be influenced by reggae, techno, dark d'n'b,... anyway trance ain't really my cup of tea, but sometimes i like trancey influences and a little bit of trance in a hardcore/old skool jungle/ravey set... and your tune is cool :)

I can see where your comming from, and i am just trying to combine trance with dubstep because i love both genres so much, and obviously they are similar tempos.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7yQOZ97QYj8

this is my other one which more slides into trance then back out of it.

And i have a remix of ATB ecstasy comming up also.

Just wondering if others would drop it in a (on paper) dubstep set?

Why are you trying to make your own genre?

Fair play for mixing trance and dubstep, I like trance myself, but please don't just brand yourself. Shows no integrity.

Just make music...by saying that you want to start a genre leads me to believe you want to become know as the guy who created some hybrid...why don't you just be the guy who made trance influenced dubstep, and maybe people will follow?

I didnt intend to be the guy who created some hybrid, but i can see how it could be percieved that way.

I advertised it as a hybrid genre because:

a/ if i just have it as dubstep, the trance people wont take notice and vice versa (on paper anyway) plus, in my eyes, upon the forum when someone sees trance dubstep hybrid, it intregues them more than just... new dubstep song

b/ if im honest i believed it to be a new genre, however trance influenced dubstep does sound more, ermmm, sophisticated than a trance dubstep hybrid genre lol

Finally; i believe that although i dont want to be "the guy who created some hybrid genre" i do want my individual style, i just thought this was a way of letting people know of this style.

Anyhow, i sincerely insist i did not intend to come across the way you (and maybe others) have taken it, im not that much of a tw*t.

:) hope you know understand what i was trying to achieve here.

theres been loadsa heads at it.

I think it was the "Im expecting a tough time to get this genre through... as dubstep obviously is more of a grimey and ermmm "eviler" genre where as trance is alot more relaxed..." comment that did it for me....

What sorta dubstep are you into/who's doin it for you at the moment?

I was expecting more in the way of ridiculous massed synth arpeggios.
Not bad though.

personally i dont like every tunes one artist does and not one tune others do... im open to each song, however 16bit and skream are really killing it for me at the moment, bt the list could go on and on and on lol

and thanks everyone else for the heads up about similar tranceydubstep type tracks :)

Once again, i insist im not claiming to be the "first" or the "creator" of trancey dubstep, just to my knowledge there wasnt anything AS trancey as what i attempted, that is all.

I kind of stumbled upon making a trancy sort of dubstep tune and I was wondering if there were other tracks similar to mine. I have absolutely no idea what I would categorize it under but there seems to be a good response to the tune ... I did however play it at a party recently and I'd like to think it went over pretty well. Here's the tune if anyone is interested http://soundcloud.com/ntny/wubstep-part-1-preview - 320 is available too. Regardless I'm cooking up more tunes like this, because they are fun, and come somewhat naturally to me.

the tunes are great man really digging them but i would say that there have been producer before you have done the trance/dubstep thing, its works all in all but i would rather see you say "am trying to push that certain dubstep music forwards instead
